Has anyone turned north at Winnemucca, NV and drove up to Hwy 140, and then taken that west through northwestern NV and southern OR, through Klamath Falls and into Medford, OR? If so, then you probably got an overlength ticket in Oregon the same as I did. And ODOT was probably very unhappy with you as they were with me. And somebody probably alerted them ahead of time so they would be waiting at the run-down little portable weigh station area that is always closed except for when trucks with 53' trailers come up through there. Lesson learned.

Was it marked as restricted? Was it marked in your map book? Did your company route you that way?

Shame on you, you bad boy!!!

Since I used to come that way all the time when I was OTR, (quite a few years ago, with 48' tlrs), either from 395 or from Lakeview, I checked in the Rand McNally and it's "not listed" in there but there is a section between Beatty and Dairy on 140 that is restricted and shown as such on the map, also just about 13 miles east of Medford is a section that is also restricted but not shown on the map or listed. (now I cant even find where I read it at :biggrin_25510: ) Too bad Rand McNally couldnt be a little more detailed. Hope it dont cost you too much

I was cited for over-length in Lassen County, CA by CHP about 6 months ago (near Susanville) and it hasn't shown up on my CSA. Not sure if my Oregon MVR has anything about it but I'm curious as to whether it was treated as a moving violation or not. I just paid the fine ($187) and moved on.

Need to be careful in California to stay on the highlighted STAA routes because CHP is the biggest ticket writing racket in the county and they love to pick on trucks just as much as 4-wheelers. If you're new in the game it'll only take once getting popped for some crap like that to realize how nazi they can be. I'd accidentally gotten off route and turned down some county road off US-395 and realized pretty fast I'd blown it, but couldn't find a place to turn around on that little 2-lane. That's all it took so let that be a warning.

Why are those western states still living in the stone ages...53' trailers are too long and 55 mph speed limits. Jeez

Size and weight violations carry no csa points, you just pay the ticket. I had one but I corrected at w/s and they let me go w/o citation. But they still give you inspection report that shows violations discovered but if it size or weight violation you dont get any csa points. Checked mine and it showed 0

It is probably a ticket for being past 41' on your trailer tandems. Did you get any inspection paperwork with it? I got one at 10:30 P.M. on New Years eve for being 1" over. Actually it was just a warning.

IL has joined in this, local enforcement of length laws on roads that are incorrectly listed as STAA routes in the atlas.

Off route is limited to 65 foot overall length and 55 foot wheelbase. Fine is much less than California.

I'm going to check a 2012 motor carriers atlas to see if it's in that, this was enacted in April 2011.

I'll post more information when I find it.

Are these lenght limits just for pulling 53' or also includes 48' trailers?

Enough of the bickering in here. We do not advocate any type of assault here, whatsoever.
