I think any driver that has worked with Qualcomm for extended lengths of time will agree it is not perfect! I'm sure that most diesel bears with any time under their belt know that as well.
As technology gets better and cheaper, all these "problems" will work themselves out. The only REAL PROBLEM that will not go away w/o ALOT of work is this dumb, out-dated pay per mile system! IMHO, That is the biggest obstacle to saftey that we face in this industry! Pay per mile needs to go the way of the dinosaur! It's not 1937 anymore! There is no good reason for pay per mile anymore.

Oh , and on the HOS being rewritten again ? OOIDA is all for it because they want to fight the split sleeper again . That'll never happen because the " safety organizations " oppose it . Besides that , money talks . Elsewhere I posted a link showing Teamsters donating over $2,000, 000 to Democrats including $10,000 to Obama and $5,000 to Frank Lautenberg
. OOIDA contributions weren't nearly as impressive . https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cycle=2010&cmte=C00236778Dr Demented and AfterShock Thank this. -
This is not going to change until the entire industry collapses completely. The idiots that caused it will never take any form of responsibility as they are incapable. When the public is in a state of near riot because they can't get their twinkies on time, things will change, but not before then and probably not for the better.

Does a warning at a canadian scale for not carrying 14 days back of logs make a problem

I have over the past week contacted as many board members of the OOU as could be reached and all agree, The OOU will seek legal action against the new CSA 2010 rules untill such time as the goverment writes in safe gaurds and adds an appeals process to gaurantee that drivers will Not be fired without due process as gauranteed by the const.
I know some will agree some will not, but enough is enough

The whole system is designed to create more "slavery". Dispute that? then you are more brainwashed than I thought. The "plantation owners"(the government and corporate America) have created a system that is equivalent to the chains that the black slaves wore some 200 years ago.
Those of us who have been in this business for several years know that before you had a DOT man standing on every corner, you actually had better drivers than you do today. There is no denying the fact that every truck rolling on the highways today is viewed by the government(and every lawman) as a source of revenue. They couldn't care less about safety.
This CSA2010 completely violates every truck driver civil rights. Someone mentioned "Double Jeopardy" and that is exactly what this is putting drivers under. But then, who cares. Ain't a soul going to "bat" for us. If I was a young man, there is no way that I would get into this business today.zentrucking Thanks this. -
And this is being brought to you by the same folks spending money like water and wanting to run your health care. H1N1 shots were a real success. Too many people trying to tell us what is good for us. I could see something like this if it didn't include past infractions, however, it would seem they want it this way so there will be a quick extermination errrr I mean elimination of drivers.

Did OOIDA win the battle on split sleeper??
The rest areas in Va. got closed!
I do not know too many drivers that are paid for their 30 to 40 hours per week sitting at someone's dock, do you??
So, in reality, OOIDA ain't won one victory for the drivers. The organization reminds me of AARP, nothing but a "glorified insurance broker".
