Do you or don't you fill out your daily recap on your log? I got in a heated discussion with our transportation manager over this issue because I don't. ( Funny I have been here at this company for 2 years and this has never been mentioned before ) I keep a recap of my hours but I keep it in my briefcase for my use only. I don't feel like I should do the DOT's job for them, if they want to set down and recap my hours for themselves have at it. As far as I know it is not required to fill it out in the logbook but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I never run out of my 70 hours because I get a 34 restart every weekend. Please share your thoughts.

It is not required, but I always did. I figured if DOT could see it they figured I was on top of it. Without it they might want to look a little closer.

Well that's what I told him several times and he wanted to argue with me so I asked him to show me the regulation that required it and well you know how that goes, he didn't have time right then :biggrin_25511:
Funny how these clowns that have never driven a truck and Don't even hold a CDL know more than somebody who has logged over 1,000,000 safe and violation free miles. :biggrin_25513:

It is not a requirement by the DOT or FMCSA.

However, I have worked for some companies that required it. Company policy is usually something you have to deal with.

I do because its easier for me to remember how many hours I have left. Plus it might have something to do with this new 2010 thing thats coming out and your company might want to make sure your legal.
