I have a DOT Physical Renewal tomorrow at 7 AM. I'm all clear for drugs, but I want to know if they're looking for alcohol.

It's a Friday night so I am most likely going to be out drinking till 2 AM with my friends. Another thing is I am only 20, not 21, would they report it?

Anyone that knows the facts, please drop a message.

Not to mention that he is under age for drinking as well.

Yes, I got my CDL when I was 18 and have been driving locally since.

    Yes I am.

Son, I don't think that you would be doing yourself a favor by drinking before a renewal. Not only that, you need to decide what is important, drinking, or keeping your job.

Go to this link and read section 7 line 1.

I assure you after a night of drinking, a person who has not been around you WILL be able to smell it on you.

As a paramedic, I can always tell when a patient has been drinking by the odor they emit. A doctor will also be able to tell.

You will have to decide whether it is worth it or not.

I think you guys are misreading my question, or I asked it wrong. I want to know if they test for alcohol in my urine. I don't want to know if they are smelling me for it, or testing my balance, or anything of that sort. I will be perfectly fine the next morning, I just know that I will probably have a beer or two still in my system.

I think you are missing the point I made for you.

GENERAL APPEARANCE. They will be able to smell alcohol on you.

I met a friend, who I did not know had been out the night before. It was breakfast at 9 am. He had been home, showered, brushed his teeth and all. He was getting ready to go on the road.

After we ate, I asked him when he had stopped drinking the night before.

He said, "How did you know I was out?"

I told him, I could smell it on him and see it in his face.

    He had quit about midnight.

They do not test for the urine, but they look at your general appearance.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE FACTS, PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR THEM.

Ok, you have been given advice from people that have been doing this job far longer than you have been alive, so do what you want, and suffer the consequences if you don't like the answers here.
