OK now let me explain. I received my cdl about 15 years ago In which the first five years was doing some p/u and delivery in and around the chicago area along with a few otr jobs doing furniture and long haul dry van. Then I got myself a nice union job in construction driving a ready-mix truck and was there the last ten. Well you have all seen what has happened to the construction industry and since ive been a cdl holder for 15 years Ive decided to head back to the road. Also, as you all know, thats with the economy the way its is its almost impossible to get a road job without RECENT experience. I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction to a newbie friendly company. One that trains and isnt out to screw me? :biggrin_25524:

Scottm586, just fully check out the companies that train and see which one would work best for you and have the available area where you live, make sure to ask all the important questions like how much per mile they pay, what the benefits are like, how often will you get to go home, 2 weeks or 3 or more, do your home work, also find out how long you will have to be with a trainer and how much you will make during training which is very important. some where in this forum is a thread that tells everything to ask. A few things are where will you be able to park truck and or trailer on home time and will you go by bus to training terminal or other travel and will you be able to get by your house when you get your own truck to get the rest of your things you will need. Also if there will be a built in fridge or a radio and how many miles a week you will be driving to know kind of a ball park figure of what you will make per week or 2 weeks. Good luck

Just keep sending out apps and knocking on doors, something will turn up somewhere. Good luck!
