Since I have been off the road for around 3 years Central Refrigerated is offering a 2 at $200 per week refresher program, then trainer for 4 weeks at 450$ to get my own truck. I also had an offer from Stevens but with them it is starting 100 percent over 3 weeks of school no pay, 4 weeks with a trainer at 350 week, then change trainers and go another 350 for 4 weeks. I already retain my CDL class A, and remember most of my training. I can see where it would help me to do just refresher to learn HOS rules again and such. Woot I start on the 28th of June.

Central Refrigerated is the best route.Stevens is a pain in the rear, you spend total of 8 weeks out with a trainer.I would go with Central.Good luck.

I'm going to have to look into them. I need to take a refresher class as well, i haven't been driving in two yrs do to family matters. The only call back was from schneider and CR England. CR England offers the refresher classes for $1300, netts driving school in MA has it for $100 an hour, i would have to go for 4hrs. but haven't worked for a long time and don't have the money to go. schneider has been calling to see if I have gone for the refresher yet. anyone know of a company that you can just go out with a trainner instead of taking the refreser. i just may go with CR England they deliver to gordons fish plant in GLoucester,MA its down the street from my house. any feed back on them would be great. thank you.

Check with Heartland also, if you had over a year OTR before the break. I know they just started the refresher program again. I just do not know how long of a break they will allow.

Training is going well, You spend 1 week in class and couple days on range PTI, Backing etc, Spend other days of 2nd week learning Mtn Driving, City driving, shifting, turning and lane control. After that you road test and get sent out with trainer for 4 weeks. The trainer part of the program has been changed to 5 weeks. this is an Excellerated course. Both same course for refresher not driving in past 6 months per Federal Regulation and New needing CDL. Central will train you and give you oppertunity to get CDL from DMV. You get paid 100$ at time of orientation after 2 week training and 450 per week each week you are with trainer. Central is a 3rd Party testing site for the state of Utah. Also the refresher course ends up being 1000$ over 10 month averaging 23.07 per pay, and People needing CDL is 3000$ but you get a credit and end up paying 23.07 for 13 months.

Found out if you haven't driven any within last six months you are required by the Federal Regulations that you have to have refresher type training. Same as a new person coming into the field. Also If you have prior driving experience you need 10 years verifiable job history. If you are coming into CDL fresh, meaning never driven before you need only submit last 3 years job history.
