How would you find out where to find a job in the port pulling containers? I am a new graduate from trucking school with 3 months experience. I am currently being burned with a lease ( name of company i wont disclose) i saw on Craigslist there is job doing this. I hear its money coming in at least. I been goggling and looking at ga dept of labor with not much leads other than owner operator. I really need a job with some type of money coming in . Hope someone has some ideas. Thank you !!!:biggrin_25514:

Try going to the Georgia Ports Authority website. If a trucking company is hauling out of their port they may be able to guide you to a prospective employer.Just remember if you have to go into port to pickup a container you will need a TWIC card. This is issued by the TSA.It's a card showing you do not pose a security threat. It cost about $130.00.If you have your HazMat endorsement on your license you pay $100.00.I have worked for companies hauling out the NY/NJ ports.Decent pay but a high cost of living up here in the north east.

I don't know any companies but I do what warn you about craigslist job ads, some of them are scams and the job maybe real but the people are not.I never answer ads on craigslist unless they provide a company name.

If your gonna do that go apply for your TWIC card now cause it takes about 4 weeks to get it. It think its around $100. You may also want to get your haz-mat as well. As far as craiglist ads, I only answer ones that supply phone numbers to call.

Try and find 1badz on here.
He is working for a company hauling containers out of the port in Savannah, he said the other day that the company's are all trying to find drivers as hard as they can. Just none are available. So it is a drivers market. Should be easy to find a port job there.

That is odd? My cousin has been running regional (Charleston, Savannah, Jax) based out of Savannah for about 21yrs that I know of. He is O/O and has been out of work for about 3 months now.

Not sure on all the details, but it could be like the industry I work in (Aviation). Lots of work but the pay isn't up to par. Poeple constantly wanting to pay me the same wages I was making 10-11yrs ago.

Todays economy has blown ever theory we were taught in Economics Class out of the water!!
