I'm thinking of leaving a class b driving job that pays $15.50 an hour plus overtime to run otr at, if I'm lucky, .30 per mile. I'm sick of local Austin ####### drivers, my 1993 International, no benefits or future and think I may be more happy on the interstate. I have a class a and about 10 months t/t exp and 23 years straight truck. Which company should I go with ?
Am I crazy ?

Well driver, I guess it depends on you more so than anything else. If you are making a good living at what you got going then maybe you should stay with it. But being sick of the local traffic no bene's and the truck........well being otr you might get bene's , you'll still have to deal with idiot drivers, and probaby a crappy truck at first. Then again you may get lucky with a decent company.
There are so many factors to take into consideration, I really cant presume to give you advice except to look at ALL the options and figure out which one benefits you the most.
Good luck figuring it out. For the record I dont think your crazy either -
Yes. I read nothing beyond the title.

To the original poster, I'd say you would just have to do what you feel is best. If you are not happy where you are then only you know that. If you don't have any benefits and need them, then you definitely need to look elsewhere, IMO. Good luck, regardless.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
I feel you man! Sometimes you just need an adventure! You only get to live your life this one time. Try and tidy up any loose regrets! On that note, there are lots of good companies in Tx. Hell, going over the road doesn't mean the company even needs to be in Tx. Good luck!

Try WalMart first you could work out of the New Braunfels DC without moving then work your way down the list. There are lots of jobs in TX.

Turns out I think I would be crazy to leave this job right now. I put in 57 hours and was home every night. I would have had to drive 3275 mile at .31 a mile to make that much money. So I think I'll keep running that little tanker till they go out of business.
