How to get an ice road trucking job

how hard is it to actually get a job out on the ice roads?

I bet because of that show it is nearly impossible to get a job up there because now everyone wants to do it.

I bet they are also paying less now, because so many people want to do it now.

    am i right?

From the way it seems watching season openers on the show, it must be difficult to get in but I dont really think experience driving has too much to do with choice. There are guys that have driven years in the states and when they get on the roads the people tell them its a whole different experience so ''what you know there isnt what you need here''.

Either way, I think its pretty cool, I do enjoy the show, and I would do it (not the show). At least to get the experience.

i just figure with all of theose drivers willing to go up there now, the pay has to be going down.

    its simple supply and demand.
there are more drivers tring to get up there than they need.
so they can lower the pay and still get all of the drivers they need.

i know the company (cant think of the name off the top of my head) from season 1 in canada has a limit on US drivers since the show, they reserve the rest for locals

For the ones in Alaska Per Sean Sutherland on YouTube (he drives the southern canadian ice roads from season 1) he said you have to know someone to get in, and he lived in canada and knew someone, then he refeered a driver to get him a job.....

    I dont know about Alaska

Run the ~ 250 mile stretch of two lane roads from Idaho Falls, ID to Rock Springs, WY for two or three winters with no chains and you'll be ready for entry level on those roads. I'm not sure if they still allow trucks on those roads, but they did thirty years ago. It is quite a scenic route. Deer, Antelope, Elk, snow as high as your trailer, frequent rock slides and spring frost heaves.

well if you cut out the tv show bs and consider the immagration issue--unless you picked up that load up in the usa--and them some how get into rtl's or nuns's prientation--you arnt going to get a canadian ice road--same thing for the alsaska roads--its tv guys--there are laws that actually supercede tv believe it or not
the only way those goons got to drive on the alsaska roads is that they were making a tv show--not working per se
