| recent grad from mich. looking to get started I graduated from trucking school on 1/12/07 and have had one bad experience in orientation with gainey. got pre hired and drove my own car to grand rapids. first they didnt even have my name at the hotel so i payed for my own room. The first day went really good, did the drivers test first, then went for drug test. day 2 was fine all the way till 4 pm when they asked me to leave. I ask why and they just said front office wont hire you at this time. WOW I was pissed. I just got home yesterday and am now searching for a company again that has a pet policy. any advice from you would be great, thanks. |

| I feel sorry for you. You are among many that have dealt with similar problems. Some companies just want to bring you in and then kick you out if the feel so. But given that you are from MI you shouldn't have problem finding a company (if you have an acceptable MVR and a good background). US Xpress, Werner, Covenant, Schneider...so forth, will take you in. You are gonna have to wait till you finish your training and get you truck before you can be bring your pet with you.

| Depending on where you are in Michigan, Ralph Moyle Inc. is usually looking drivers, we just hired 4 within the last week or two. They hire right out of school and will allow pets. I have no complaints, been with them for a year. |

| I'm from southern MI and I hear that lots of people have troubles with many companies not hiring north of I-94. I just hired on with Roehl, but I'm starting to see more and more bad stories about them, so until I get some more experience with them, I'm not going to be pointing drivers that way. |

| It is harder to get a Job when you are from n. MICHIGAN. Need to have a address that you can park your truck at down south and take your down time while down there. |

| Gosh, you guys, this initial post is ANCIENT from JANUARY or so this year!! LOL He hasn't been online since March. Hopefully he found a job since then |

| Yeah you're right Wiseguy; I spoke with an O/O who lives in the UP, he gets home every six to eight weeks (and then usu only for a weekend). I knew a trainer at Covenant who lived in West Branch, and he only took hometime at about the same interval; he'd usually deliver in the Detroit area, and then run home MT.
