Newbie Needing advice for what company to go to
Hey guys, Needing some advice on what company to go to.
I am fairly recent truck driver. Got CDL early Feb and worked for "unnamed company". Had training with unfriendly guys.. but managed to get my own truck. Had some back luck and rather than work with me, they "let me go". My records are still CLEAN though.
Been out of work for a month. Finally getting some job offers.
I am looking at either WESTERN EXPRESS, WESTSIDE TRANSPORT from Cedar Rapids, VENTURE LOGISTICS from INDY ... PTL.. OR BEGA EXPRESS
First off does ANYONE have anything on Bega Express?? I can't find anything on them but they found me and want me to work for them SIGHT UNSEEN..
So not sure on that job at all.
I already have some experience with Western Express. Went to orientation for flatbed but I am too new at driving to take on that additional responsibility so they sent me back home because they could not get me on the van division. I lived an hour outside the hiring area. (THIS HAS RECENTLY CHANGED.. but my "recruiter" told me that if I dont make it down there the next week I wont get hired on.. its a temporary hiring area extention.. whatever that means). I didn't even get paid for the last 4 days I was down there.
PTL .. i was told I would be 3 weeks with a trainer and then 60,000 miles with another guy doing team.. for .15 a mile. NOT sure what to think about that but if worse comes to worse it is a job.
Venture Logistics is a place I would like to try out but my recruiter there was going to get me going with them.. and with some issues i had with my "trucking" school they pulled out. THERE might be a chance I can still get on but I don't know.
Just found out about Westside Transport. Not sure what to think yet.
ANYWAY, I would like to try out one of these places and still keep another company as an OPTION if this doesnt work out .. but HOW do I do that.
ANY HELP is appreciated. Please hurry though. I got a few days to make this happen. THanks in advance.
AND SORRY I AM "VAGUE" on stuff. I don't want to piss off anyone I really want to drive again. I hate to loose this career before I start it.
