I have a felony and want to work as a trucker
Hi everyone i have a felony conviction of possesion with intent in 2009. I amcurrently still serving parole for the next 3 years. I have graduated from smith and solomon last week and cant find a job what can anyone recommend to me. Please any info will help. I have taught about becoming a owner operator if no one will hire me and starting my own llc is that a good idea.

I am not trying to crush your hopes but you are going to have a really hard time trying to get someone to take a chance on you simply because of your type of felony and the whole parol issue. There are some people in the trucking industry with some criminal history and most of them are older than 10 years. The O/O thing that you are looking as a possible back up plan is going to be just as hard to near impossible if you have no experience OTR. Most companies will not even take your bids seriously unless you have authority and even then they want to see some miles backing it up. Now there is some hope for you if you want to work in the oilfields. There are some drilling companies that flat out dont care what your back ground is or was. All they are going to care about is that you are going to show up on time and bust your tail everyday. You have a hard road in front of you. Better get creative quick. There are other ways to make money.

Being a o/o bad idea. Might be able to go Otr but you'll have to look into small companies or individual o/o that have like 2-3 trucks. Local will be easier but not the best jobs like concrete, construction, bulk, equipment, dairy, water truck, gravel asphalt. You got to search pretty hard though. My buddy got a concrete job to start out with a felony with no driving exp. Just got his cdl. His felony was theft.
