He just graduated from trucking school and had a DWI from a year ago and there is a company that hired him. It pays from 900 to 1100 a week but you have to unload your own trailer. They pay 20 cent for every box you have to unload. I dont know if I am aloud to say there name but if anyone wants there info just send me a message and I would be more than glad to give you there name. It isnt a bad job and they dont hold MVR's or crimanal backgrounds against you.

Here is a question...since we are chatting about "lot lizards". This is totally off subject from the lizards but I think it's important to talk about.

Let me start by saying that I am, or will soon be, a rookie driver. One of the things that I have concerns about are Freight Theft as well as driver robbery. Is there a big problem with either getting your cargo stolen or your personal belongings ripped off while out there on the road.

Mind you, I am no fool to the ways of the world....just want to have as much information "honest information" about what I am getting myself into.

I don't remember the specifics so I will throw it out the best I remember.

Last month my co. sent out a message on the Q/C a team with a HIGH PRIORITY load both walk away fromthe truck at a truckstop to pay for fuel and use the bathroom, when they returned approx. 20min. truck and trailer gone...................STOLEN.......

This I beleive happened AZ. not sure which city anymore, co. states tk/tlr still not recovered............Total value of load $4mil...........GONE........

Bet someone is sitting on a nice hunk of change right now in Mexico or Canada. Appearently, they knew what the load contained and its high value of goods. Someone dropped the ball on Operation Security. I don't see it as the truck driver's fault. I see it as the companies fault for not protecting it's assets. If that was me, I would put the load in a $h.i.t rusted out trailer witha n 85 cabover hauling it. Bet it wouldn't get stolen, let alone even looked at.

it happens. seems to be more common out east though. but it happens everywhere.
No freight is worth dying for. If anyone ever stopped me to steal the freight I'd be like "knock yourself out, I'm gona ea tmy lunch on the curb just let me know when you'r done..... lol.

seriously though its a shame that sometimes these thievs feel they need to kill the driver, it does happen. I guarantee 99.99% of drivers would give a darn and would be no problem for the robbers

it IS - at the very least - partly driver fault.

They left the load unattended. There are two of them. If they knew the approx value of the load, one of them should have stayed with the truck. You can take turns going to the bathroom/shower/whatever. No, it wouldn't guarantee the safety of the load, but it would have been a reasonable precaution.

If the drivers happened to mention on the radio what they were hauling, they are *definitely* at fault.

OK since I see I need to elaborate...............

For our co. their is a standard advisement o high value loads.....
High value loads have procedures speeled out on the Q/C to include but not limited,(Vehicle is not to be left unattended at all, 1 driver maintains contact at all times) no stops within 200 miles of shipper......etc.
Even though most of the time you may not know exactly what the load is you can also make a determination based on where it is coming from....
IE..... hp, panasonic, dell, etc..........
The 2 drivers both have been fired............
The driver(s) is fully responsible short of being physically highjacked....

Their are always outside thefts in most co.'s however, statistics do show a high internal involvement, whether current or former employees.

Just a (I'll make) short story A walmart store in PA. in dec. was robbed during business hours. 3 people involved $240,000.00 stolen.
Turns out 2 of the 3 worked at another store and the third was working at the store robbed........................DUHHHHHHHH:biggrin_2 5518:
