Good luck and be strong. Go out on your own and get your experience. Prove to yourself what you can do on your own, and then in a few years you and your husband will be ready to tackle the road together.

 

What about drinking and posting on a website? I bet there are companies out there that'd bust my DAC for that, but only if I were working for 'em first. This would make me less attractive to another carrier in case I saw some green grass on the other side of the fence.

Right now, Shookup, you yourself are a USDA grade-A prime steak truck driver. Many a company would love to sink its claws into you, as you have a perfect driving record, a great work history, and you went the training mill route. Those outfits salivate over someone like you, so be sure to choose the right company. Again, Crete is good. So is Roehl. If you go with a bad company, they will do whatever they can to keep you on if you decide to quit 'em later, including taint your DAC report to keep you from escaping their clutches. Yeah, you better believe some companies will resort to that kind of dirty trickery to keep drivers with pristine records. Drivers with tainted DAC reports have a much tougher time finding jobs at good companies. With a tainted DAC, you'll be forced to go sideways or even go backwards if you quit, or even come crawling back to the offending company. You'll come crawling back when you realize no one as good as or better than the offending company will hire you with a tainted DAC. Such is the strategy of those companies who will play the dirty tricks. Just stay the hell away from 'em and you'll be fine.

I've got an idea of a couple of these dirty companies. What is the percentage of dirty companies? Its hard to believe their short term gains can offset longer term driver liabilities. I read about hazmat record recourses for errors in drivers records: there are none (Republican Homeland Security strategy). Hazmat seems like a way to really screw drivers over royally with no visibility at all. And from what you are indicating, DAC records are pretty much another tool to reduce truckers salaries. Doesn't sound like a good industry to make people mad, ha-ha.

 

The woman that can't drive because her hubby has DUI. No matter how you look at it you have to first start at a training co. Get your time and training in and then when you get assigned a truck he you can get a rider policy and he can go with you just not drive.

 

Check with the companies you have locally. Smaller companies, even owner ops.

Your husband can get hired, it is just going to be very difficult.

If you are trying with ANY of the top 15 companies, forget it. You're going to have to think small....for your husband.

Schools and States, are money machines...pure and simple. I've seen people with Felony Drug Trafficking convictions at orientations, that had just finished school and had gotten their CDL.

No one told them they could not get a job and not to waste their money...the school or the state.

 

Not sure where you live but if you just want him to drive with you rather than you being a solo driver and him drive along with you then go online and search all companies. Also, check your local newspaper for driving jobs. You are woring with 2 negatives here tho: You have to find a training company to start out with and then his DUI. Try Covenant Transport, US Express, and Windy Hills. I'll look-up the name of a flatbed Company that may hire him, don't know it off the top of my head. Don't wait too long to start your training because it will be that much harder on you. If you are in debt then I suggest you get a driving job. Most training companies will pay your student loans. I still think you should go out there get your training and then he can ride 2nd seat with you until this passes over. Also join one of the legal plans, they may be able to offer some advice.
