I have been driving for over 7 years, one ticket ever.

Here is what I need.

1. A company with a pet policy. My dog is good size, about 60 lbs, and giving him up is not negotiable. My husband died, leaving me with my pup as the only family I have.

2. Good home time, regional would be great, but not necessary.

3. Decent pay, I won't work for peanuts.

The rest is not important, I don't care if I drive an old truck, new truck, brand is not important....

Please help me. Thanks

Oh, there is a company in KC, not huge, allows pets, good home time, and I forget their name, no matter how hard I try to remember. Wasn't a good fit for hubby and I, but for me alone it may be. Anyone know it by any chance?
Sabine do not go to W.N. Morehouse. They will drive you till you drop and the peanuts part will apply. I worked for them. Crete has a pet policy and decent pay. Try them, i'm going to. I've read reviews on here and talked to their drivers. 1 out of 6 I talked to had something negative to say. If not them, keep looking. you may find it.

No one had!
The average length of service in the classroom biz was 10 plus years, so that would have been 200 plus years of experience total.
now that I r a driver, I look around the T/S and I've noted folks who travel with a dog appear to be less stressed, presentable (dogs have standards ya know) , and overall have their stuff wired tight.
As companies pay their insurance based on accident rates, I wonder why they're not more into allowing pets?
Thats an awesome point!
I am sorry to hear for your loss Sabine, and I hope you can get everything sorted out as soon as possible.

Catprint Red somewhat the same content

Yep, Crete does not require pet deposit; Crete drivers told me the money is good, drivers aren't pushed to run illegally, and drivers are treated with respect. I faxed an applic to them today.

Crete Carrier does NOT charge you a pet deposit! Money is good and you do not have to run illegally according to Crete drivers. Treat you with respect, and it sounds liveable. Let's all apply there!

I am delighted with the NO-DEPOSIT pet policy at CRETE CARRIER. Sounds like a decent place to work and do not seem to take advantage of drivers. My wife is much more likely than my little dog to get mad and chew up the seats anyhow.

I have a similar problem as well since I have a dog that rides with me.
I am currently looking for a company that will allow me to have my dog as well as my passenger with me on the truck. <my passenger is my finance>
Most of the companies I have spoken too say they will allow a pet, but only to a maximum weight, usually around 30 to 40 pounds.
the reasons I have been given for not allowing a pet are usually "it causes additional wear and tear on the climate control systems" or for insurance liability reasons from dog or animal bites

Dogs and trucks

they go togeather like coffee and cream. My currrent jobs asks that the dog does not shed. end of story. My dog got on the truuck at 6 wks and was there for the duration till my ex and I split the sheets, her dog but she was ignored if I was home. I sure miss that dog! but the biggest thing the dog did for me was make me stop and get out and streach my legs a couple times a day. and was alot of company on the road. I advocate pets on trucks.

me too...though my BP meds make me stop every couple hours and.. stretch my legs, too.

That's a big strike against the company I currently work for. No pets. Not that I could get Buddy into this Pete 379. 110 pounds and 10 years old. Still, I'd love to have him along. He could even have the bottom bunk.

Hrm.. if I took out the passenger seat....

I recently(with in last month) talked to a Crete driver and she said they had changed the policy and were no longer going to allow pets. My co (ATS) Allows pets, policy says under 40 lbs., but I know of a guy who has his own truck(might be the diff.)and he has a bull mastiff with him! Definetly over 40 lbs! Our deposit is $500, they tell you up front you wont get $250 back, goes to the extra cleaning etc., and the other $250 can transfer to the new truck. I dont think anyone really checks the weight tho.

And just what good is a dog that's under 30 pounds? My hubby drives for Celadon, and they allow pets under 35 pounds. Our dog doesn't qualify, as she weighs 60. I like to keep her here with me though. She's got too much energy to be in a truck! Good luck finding a company that will take your pet and treat you well. Maybe o/o or l/o may be the way to go.

Well, I've got to great Golden Retreivers and if it's for protection, I gotta wonder how good they are, unless someone is afraid of getting licked to death.
