| I had a phone int. back in June. Some terminals are Union some are not. Insurance benefit way too expensive. pay sounded good till they explained insurance I remember it was like 200 bucks a week. So the 1100 bucks a week just turned into 900 |

| I've worked for MCA for four years. I have health insurance through my wife, so their over-priced insurance isn't an issue for me. I work out of the Cincinnati terminal. Other than the insurance issue, it's a good job. You start out on the "extra board" until bid season in October. The bottom third of the seniorty list tends not to stick around very long, so if you can "gut it out" for about a year with a not so great bid, the middle and upper third of the bid list runs are pretty good and after about a year, sometimes less, you can get a good run. The bids last for a year. I like this system because I know a year in advance when my days off will be. Mail hauling is hourly ($22.33 in Cincinnati) and all "no-touch." On overnight trips you stay in a hotel. The only bad thing I can really say about the job (besides the insurance) is that they slip-seat the trucks. You really find out what kind of slobs truck drivers can be under this system. On the plus side, while hauling mail may not be for everyone, for me it rocks! You get paid for every minute you're on the job. If your load isn't ready (which is rare), you get stopped at the scale (even more rare), hung up in traffic, break-down, or any other thing that would add time to your trip, you get paid for it. In other words, unlike most other trucking jobs, there's no reason to hurry. It's trucking the way trucking was meant to be. I've been in this business 24 years and this is "hands-down" the easiest job I've ever had. One more thing to consider, age doesn't lie. Most of our drivers are over 50 and have been with the company 15-20 years, and in many cases even longer. |

| Postal Work Can Anyone tell me how strict is the security clearence for contract workers. I am thinking of appling to one of these companies but I have a criminal past for possesion and theft 16 years ago when I was younger

They will investigate you, fingerprint you, and in my opinion you will not pass security clearance. Hauling U.S. mail is one of the better driving jobs that I have had. You have a time to leave and a time to be there, no bull! If you are due out # 8am, 99 3/4 of the time, the door is coming down # 7:55 am and the seal in put on the trailer. Once in a great while, you might have to wait on an incoming truck that might be having trouble. The only "gripe" that I had, most of the mail does not run 7 days a week, so you have a long lay-over on Mondays. You go into a post office on Sunday nite and your run leaves out on Monday morning, you don't leave until Tue. morning because there is no collection of mail on Sundays. But other than that, I would highly recommend hauling mail to anyone. |

Go down to your Superior Court House, look for the clerk (theres usaully a few) and tell that person you would like to fill out a Petition for Reduction of Felony and/or Misdemeanor Form. As long as you have been clean for three years, however, you stipulate 16 easy dismissal. Now remember you will drop a felony to a midemeanor then from there its dismissed. All in one day but first the court date. Peace |

| I drove for these people for about 3 months. I must admit it was really easy work,like others have said. I drove as a casual driver during that time so it was more or less part time. The only reason I didn't go full time extra board was due to that screwed up deal with the health insurance. If you have no other insurance coverage you are forced to buy it and if I remember correctly for me and my daughter it was something like 180.00 a week. Casual drivers are exempt from this. However, you may only work once a week or 5 days in a row so there's no way to count on working. Overall though these were good people to work for. The only reason I left them was so my fiance and I could go teaming again together over the road, that turned out to be not so much of a good decision either but that's another story. There's no money to be made out here these days. This is the brokest I've been in 15 years. I've just about decided to get out of trucking as I can't make a living at it anymore. No freight = no miles. Or something like that.
