DAC reports, why feel out a job app. hist.?

Why do jobs even ask about your driving record, Or work Hist, If all they go on is DAC reports. I have 10 years clean driving record, OTR & Local, HAZ-Mat & Tanker endorsements. I was hurt on the job, was off work for a couple mounts, The Mgr. told me after he found out I was looking for another job, that he was going to "black Ball" me by putting negative untrue things in my DAC report. I think it is so wrong that a Company can screw up a drivers carrier just because they can And don't like you.

It has to do with being honest with your prospective employer. If there is something questionable on your dac then there is a remedy available to you. You may contact dac and "challenge" the questionable report. The carrier has a certain amount of time to substantiate the claim otherwise the entry will be removed. You can in fact enter your version of things as well.
Dac was created to actually weed out drivers that were unsafe, had substance abuse problems, and to track a drivers career. Unfortunately it can be abused by unscrupulous employers. Challenge any and all incorrect entries on your dac.

Exactly, it definately gives a potential employer a glimpse into an applicants character.

Most small companies do not use DAC. So it by itself is not the whole picture.

Exactly, so if you mention an issue instead of trying to hide it, it says something about your character. By saying "something", it will at least give you the opportunity to tell your side of a story. They will listen if you offer to tell them.
