| Considering relocating to TX or KY So we are in the miserable state of Michigan. Now that winter is rolling in, our sky matches our gloomy economy. We are considering relocating to Texas or Kentucky. Any recommended regional jobs? Very open to suggestions in TX. In KY, we would like to be in the southeast region. Looking for regional work so that I'm home every day. Not afraid of physical labor. Have 2+ years experience in food distribution. Can get my hazmat, just haven't yet. (I realize that KY isn't known for a wonderful economy, but cost of living is in line.) |

| regional isn't home every day. Local is. I just moved to southeast TX from WI. there is alot of logging here if you want to run a log truck pay seems to run from $140 to $195 per day but you will start at 4am and work untill 6pm or so usually 6 days a week. If you have a tank and hazmat then you will never go hungry with all th e gas, crude oil hauling around here too. not sure of the pay as I don't want to pull a tank. Oh and along with the log hauling is allot of chip hauling. Don't expect to make what you do in MI but you don't need to, its cheap t live and there is no state income tax in TX. As an example I had a 120+ year old farmhouse in WI on 10 acres with a nice 45X80 pole building. I sold it for $250k I bought a double wide on 13 acres with a ton of valuable timber on it for $70k, my property taxes went from $5k in WI to $120 in TX. Just one more thing. I lived in GA for awhile and I hated it, I don't think a day ever went buy that I wasn't reminded that I was a yankee, I'v never heard that here even once. You don't have the god ol boy still reliving the civil war here that you get in the southeast. but then again you get to deal with allot of gun totin cowboys here! lol |

Southeast KY is going to be just as depressed as where you are now. Along with the looks of the majority of houses and other buildings you will see. So many folks living on welfare and they just don't care about the looks of things. It depresses me just to drive thru the area. I grew up in eastern KY and you could not pay me to move back. I'll take the wind of WY before I did that. At least here we have about 300 days of at least some sunshine. Unlike KY where you might not see the sun for a week or two in the winter time. If crude oil hauling pays in TX what it pays here you'll be making around $180 a day as long as you get the quota of loads hauled. Quote:
LOL, you gotta be careful who you start a fight with.

| Who is "we?" Do you have any kids? If anything hotlanta would be a good place to move if you are a trucker due to many, many companies having terminals there. (not such a good place to move because of traffic though) i can't go anywhere due to family responsibilities (long story). But if it weren't for that, believe it or not, the northwest, i feel, would be lucrative for a driver. |

| The northwest does not have that many loads or loads that pay well. Cost of living is HIGH too.
