The pay of 16.25 was not correct. The starting pay is 16.69 per hr. They will give you a 30 question test which is very basic math and map reading. You wil then get a quick interview. I did mine already and am waiting for the result next week. I think I did pretty well. They are talking about sending the successful candidates to school the end of January. The down side is you receive $30 a day while in training (5 weeks) It is still not to bad considering they pay for te school hotel and food.

Yeah, well, I don't know of too many people that can pay their mortgage/rent/whatever; pay for food, gas, electric and everything else in life on $30 per day. More people than not have families or at least a house to deal with and related payments. I'm in the minority, but if I ever go OTR again - I will be demanding a full week's pay to go through the freakin' orientation. In fact, I will be recording everything everyone says. I probably won't find a job OTR, because after a 2 plus decades of the bs, I can honestly say that THEY will have to meet MY demands. Probably easier to get a greenhorn to work 6 months with them than to have to deal with some guy that is already beyond fed up with the system.

We al have to start somewhere. One way or another you pay for your school, either out of your own pocket or as a company slave for a year. I would rather just pay for my training and be free of a contract. I don't know if Greyhound binds you with a contract, I would imagine hey do. Once I get a few miles under my belt then I will be more choosy who and what I drive. But for now I need a foot in the door. My neighbor retired from G.H. after 32 years and loved every minute of it.

| I called them today The lady I got ahold of told me at first, that it was a salary of $30,000 a year, and then retracted and said, that she didn't really know what the drivers got paid. She said, I needed to apply, so she could set up an appointment for an interview in order for me to find out.... at the interview.I informed her that I wasn't interested in driving for Grey Hound for a while, and was just seeking future information.... She didn't tell me much, and wasn't very helpful.

I know that $30 a day doesn't sound like much, but at least it is something. Before I could get my teaching credential, I had to do student teaching, which is teaching all day long for six months, and receiving $0 per day. And it took five years of college just to be able to earn $0 per day.
