How's the auto on a grade? Monteagle for instance... enough engine braking? Is it a six speed Allison?

Just curious

6 spped Allisons are to small for class 8 semis. Eaton Fuller and Meritor make auto's 10 & 12 speeds seem to be the norm. i've never driven one but i would expect that most would have Jake brakes.

Avveritt hired my sisters friend straight out of school. i think he was based in Lexington. Home weekends, but lived at my sisters in Berea, to be reasonable distance from work...ie: no take home

I'm not referring to the little Allisons that they put in pickup trucks. An HD4560P is fully capable of sitting behind a 430 horse Series 60 in a class 8 tractor--and it's a six-speed.

I've driven day cabs with the Allison sixers in 'em, but I've never tried one on a mountain. From what I hear, they'll even do a 32% grade... now that would be scary! Imagine Monteagle a tad more than 5 times steeper!
