Angry Well it looks like I have to wait.

I just talked to 3 different recruiters and they all told me the same.

My licence was suspended like to 5 years ago do to having no insurance.
I paid the ticket back then but never paid the fee to get my licence reinstated. I went oversees to work with an electrical company and did not need my licence. I has a vaild ID though.

Since I came back to the states I took care of the suspended licence fee last month and still have not driven anywhere.

Recriuters tell me that my licence has to be vaild for a year. I told them that I just thought as long as it was vaild when I applied, and have had no traffic tickets of any kind in over 5 years. Do to I havent been behind the wheel in over five years.

I guess I just read wrong. I thougt as long as You have no moving violataions (speeding, DUI, DWI) or accidents in the companys alloted time that everything should be clear. A licence suspention is not a moving violation. Isnt it the result of getting a moving violation? Well that was over five years ago and it was for no insurance at the time. All I did was pay to vaildate my licence again. In my book I have had a clean driving record for over five years.

Keep calling companies and asking. It doesn't hurt and all they can do is say no. Every company has different policies.

It's funny how they look at that sometimes. When my ex finally got his license reinstated after his DUI's, it had been like 8 years. So he qualified as having a "good driver discount" on his insurance since he had no tickets or accidents in the last 8 years, even though he had no license during that time.

Thats true, and you think insurance companies would be more strict

That sure wouldn't work in Michigan. You have to have continuous coverage without lapse for at least the last six months or they automatically throw you in the High-Risk pool.

I got burned by that stupid law one time when I let the insurance on my car lapse because it was summer--I was riding my motorcycle exclusively. So, when I went to reinstate the coverage on my car, I had to pay the big dollar. It didn't matter that I was over 25 and had NO tickets for 5 years.

Michigan doesn't recognize a motorcycle as a 'motor vehicle'... so motorcycle insurance doesn't count towards continuous coverage. Just plain BS if you ask me.

That worked for Mike as well. He held a motorcycle license from 1987 until 2001. He never let the license lapse once but had no vehicle for about 10 years so no insurance on anything. Now, thoug, he gets a huge insurance discount on his car AND bike license and can claim X amount of years safe driving. He didn't hold a car license or truck license for any of those years!! For once something that worked in our favor! LOL
