I drove an Auto truck ONCE, and I HATED it. The **** thing didn't know whether to upshift, downshift, noshift on steep hills. I was doing a run between phoenix and a mine up in the mountain - the route has 3, 10% grades.
Freaking wastes of mechanical parts, if you ask me, I never want to drive one of those things again. I only had to drive it that day because my regular truck was broken down and in the shop.I am medicineman and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
Actually the tough spot isnt the east--just slow down and watch out for others.. The west coast--totally different. They have weird snows out there and their snow drifts real bad. That is the worst. East coast is pretty easy for the snow but i detest driving in the snow in the west. You can be driving along with a dry road and then boom its suddenly covered with snow and cant see nothin. Especially the northwest~ Main thing is to slow down and watch all around you on the east.

I have driven, 9, 10, 13, 16 speeds and now have an auto. I had one about 6 yaers ago for awhile. I have had this one for 7 months. I shift it myself. I do not use the auto feature, so I am in control of when it shifts. They are nice in traffic. Sure helps the knee out.

Ya i bet its great in NY! LOL I remember times bein stuck on the GW bridge for 4-5 hours and all the auto guys laughin at us for having to shift and stop ! What teasers!

I drove a logger in Alberta recently that was an Auto, at first I was scared (*&^)(*& cause I didnt know how the thing would act on hills going slow with alot of weight, but once you get used to it ............like the feller said "easy on the knees". But it somehow just seems wrong not to be shifting ........sorta like paying for sex ,you end up with the job done ........but you feel guilty lol
