Desire to get back to the Road I am 46 yrs young and went to CDL school in Phoenix last year. Obtained CDL 9/1/07 and was pre-approved with Werner. Went to Werner orientation and filled out second application. I read the question about accidents which asked for any reportable accidents; which I have none. After training for three weeks my recruiter requested I call her. I was asked about an accident that I was involved in on 8/22/07 while driving for a cab company. I explained that I avoided being hit by another vehicle who turned right on red and clipped the back corner of a city bus. I was doing less then 5 MPH and no damage and no tickets were given. She said I had nothing to worry about. Three days later I was told that I needed to go to the Indianapolis terminal. I was asked by the trainer to drive two more days to end his week. I waited over the weekend and the following Monday a head recruiter over the phone from Omaha asked me about the incident. I explained it again and he put me on hold for a minute and came back and said he was disqualifying me for falsifying the application. I explained that I may have missinterpreted the question but I did not hide anything. Well, I have checked my DAC and no accidents show up for the cab company and they are listed along with Werner. My problem seems to be trying to get on with another company either because of the disqualification from Werner or the accident not sure why no one responds. I am currently working as a lot jockey in Illinois; backing in 48 and 53 ft trailers for a candy/tobacco wholesale distributor. Can anyone help this 46 year old who desires to drive OTR and is not worried about home time, but would like a company with a rider policy? Thanks for any assistance Qwazypapa

I have both DAC report and MVR and the accident is not on either. It was the cab company that told Werner . werner was doing employment history check while I was driving as trainee. I have since added it to my applications to other companies and have not had any luck. Should I mail applications instead of on-line and attach DAC report along with accident report? do you know of any companies that I might try? Are there resources that I can send my information to and have them check it before sending to trucking companies? I thought by taking a lot jockey job in the mean time would help with my backing skills. Unfortunately the job does not count on drive time. Any help is appreciated. I do not want to give up on this but am new to this market that needs people like me but most of the companies I have seen are to big and you are only a number or too small to be able to take the insurance risk.

I would think that if there is no documentation of an "accident" then you'd be golden. Just like if your MVR showed no speeding tickets, even if the cab company were to tell Werner they knew you liked to "speed". Good luck. It's getting very difficult to make any sense of the way things are done in this country anymore. |

I clipped the city bus with a taxi coming out of a private drive. The only reason there is a police report is because a city bus was involved. The taxi company told Werner when I was driving as a trainee. Werner questioned me on it. But regardless this was a 100 dollar damage to cab not to bus or other vehicle. No accidents on DAC or DMV; I know there are peole out there driving semi's with ten times the amount of negative on their record. I just want to know of possible companies or Agents that I might try so I can pursue the career that I will be a positive addition to the ladies and gents already out there.

go to a website that sends your app to many company's--i am sure this wont keep you from driving if its on none of your reports. Dont get discouraged--just keep at it--someone will hire you!
