| Actually, there have been numerous regular booms & busts in Texas. Some bigger than others but all require people to pack up and go elsewhere when all the drilling stops (which it eventually always will). My primary point was that if a person wants to follow oil & gas booms, he needs a tent or travel trailer, no reason to uproot the family because it ain't gonna last. |

F.Y.I. This is not a boom/bust situation. One of my family members owns XTO (and yes he is a Billionaire). He told me that they will be drilling for the next 20-30 years, so anyone who is of working age can have a lifelong career down here in the Barnett Shale. Bring the family !!!!!!! |

I drive a bulk tanker...cement mostly. Pay averages 25% of the gross for a company guy. Most loads pay at and above $200.00 gross to the truck for a D/FW local trip...30-40 miles from the cement plant. An average week is $650.00 gross...when business is slow like now. During busy times...there aren't enough hours to get it all done. Figure twice the $$$$$. I hear oilfield water tanker guys are paid hourly with most bringing home $1000-$1200 a week.

I'm well aware of where I posted "rookie"...The gentleman was talking about this not being a boom/bust situation and possibly affect someones thoughts of moving his family for work.I think I posted in the right thread but would have no probs if a moderator deleted my post if they think its in the wrong hole. And it was posted apolitical as mentioned and the only reason politics were mentioned was to show the cycles which you can verify many different ways if you'd care to.Please study a bit more before you try and talk to me if you don't mind as it would be more enjoyable for both of us.Thanks and may you have an even better day.
