getting fired sucks

I was discharged by stevens transport back in Nov 2007 the reason they gave me when i was discharged was because they coun't afford to insure me due to a # of backing incidences. Which didn't make any since to me at the time because I was a lease driver paying for the insurance on the truck and freight. Well long story short that's the reason they gave to me for fireing me but that is not what was said on my dac report. According to that I was discharged for safety violations which wasn't the case at all...am I being screwed because every company that I've talked to has said including JB Hunt that I have to wait six months from the date of my last accident before I'm even considered. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hmm to be honest, I think this happens quite a bit. While you may have had insurance on your end, the company probably needs to have some sort of insurance anyways.

Keep in mind that they put safety violations on your DAC because to many people a backing incident is a simple violation of safety. IE, to them, if you got out to look before and during backing, you wouldn't have had those incidents. They probably feel that you didn't follow correct procedure during backing, especially if you have quite a bit of incidents while backing.

Try some local companies that are small. Some of the smaller companies do not use the DAC because they require a subscribers fee. You could try driving a city bus or school bus.

Well tell me, did it go on anything besides the DAC? If i ran your Motor Vehicle Record would this be on it? If not, you should be able to land some kind of work. I would think if you drove a city bus or charter, they would be able to train you for the pax endorsement. I could be wrong.

no there were no tickets involved with any of my incidences and only a couple of them actually filed a police report. When I requested my mvr after I was discharched I didn't see any of those incidences on the report

That is good for getting on with a local company may be a lot easier now. Had they went on the MVR, good bye. But try to get local work and remember, do not give up in the pax market either. There is demand out there and with your Class A, all you need is a little bit of training. My friend who did the same thing needed a days worth for his pax endorsement to drive a 65pax school bus. If you have questions, ask away, but I am only human and may not have answers.
