Finished trianing and gotta wait 3-4 weeks

For a truck. I need to work and can't afford to sit around. After a bankruptcy and having split my family up in two different states Fl/Ga I was hoping to get right to it so I could get things back to normal.

Someone call the Waaambulance my recruiter lied and said I could get a dedicated route or something regional where I could be home on weekends and their telling me i gotta go OTR for 6mths to a year. I have 2 kids that I wanna watch grow up and go to a few of their baseball games. It doesn't seem to me that asking to be home on weekends is asking too much.

I'm a reliable person and prior to my business going under had been at the same job for 12 years. My license is in Florida and I'd like to find a job that I can stick with. I'm not a job hopper and if anyone is hiring that wouldn't make me go through training all over again please reply.

Any advice is appreciated.

What company is doing this to you?

I've heard of waitin a few days at the most, but 3 to 4 weeks?
Smells fishy to me.

I don't wanna say right now cuz they're the only hand feeding me at the moment or not feeding me but it's what I committed too and don't wanna lose it if something else doesn't come through. I'll tell ya later if it doesn't work out.

I will say that someone else's description of Warner fit this company to a tee. I see why this industry gets such a bad name. The toothless wonders and thugs I've encountered along the way is amazing. I'm starting to think I made a bad decision in putting out the money I did for the schooling. I think these schools have a way to finance anyone that can stay off drugs long enough to pass a piss test. I hate being grouped into these people as I see both sides point of view. I'd treat these scumbags the same way if it were my company. It just sucks being a decent person in the middle of the chaos. I seriously can't blame the people running these company's for treating these people the way they do. You gotta earn respect and you don't do that being toothless, overweight, thugs that come to a job in ripped clothing, stinking, with a concentration level of a two year old.

I just need a job at a respectable company that wants someone to take it serious and do there job. Once again please respond with advice.

Try applying to different companies. You should be able to get a job just by where you are.

If that company is willing to treat you so poorly now, imagine how bad it will be when they have you at their mercy.

Which is why I'm asking for advice. I appreciate the responses but you're not helping me by doing the one liners.

Perhaps the problem is your attitude!

You want some advice? Sure, take some prozac and chill. You won't receive much help here by completely thrashing the entire industry. There are people from many different walks of life who decided to get behind the wheel of a truck.

You call us uneducated, filthy, etc... then in the same breath ask for our help? WTF? You sure this is the industry for you? Those sweeping stereotypes are exactly what we are trying to get off our back, the last thing we need is a driver who actually believes them.

Here's lesson number one. You can think anything you want, about anyone you want. But, figure out when NOT to say what you're thinking! This business is 10% driving, 90% customer service!

That all being said... Schneider just got a new dedicated account in Alatchuwa (spelling?) Florida. Try that.

I seriously hope your attitude changes, because if you demonstrated that kind of outlook at training, that's exactly why you didn't get the dedicated job!

Good lord...

They also have local trucks in Jacksonville, not sure if any positions are open, but you can ask.

lol sry if I offended you with terms like toothless, overweight, thug, stinking, or anything else I mentioned but thats why people look down on truck drivers. I'm just stating the obvious. Please state which one of my descriptions you are and I'll try to take it easy on you. I don't think it's too much to ask for people to be professional and present themselves professionally when looking for a job. It makes it harder on people that do to be takin seriously and the reason they pay #### wages and talk down to every new person that tries to get in.

My whole point in that rant was that I don't wanna work for a company thats sympathetic to these types and take the trade seriously.
