I had no tickets for over 10 years. Then got 2 speeders last year. I hired a lawyer. Got my points removed, paid the fine. Had a cdl b & now a cdl a. Stopped by DMV the other day & got a verbal rundown on my record. No points & no record of the speeds. No job yet. Thinking I won't get hired & wasted time & money.

Food for though- A lot of states don't recognize points. The company just looks at what's on there such as tickets and accidents.

I think your obstacle would be the length of time you've had your CDL A. With the length of time comes experience. I can't say your unemployable, I'm saying you may not have enough experience with a class A.

As a fairly new driver I think the problem could be your location, Lake Havasue. Freight passes through AZ alright but you have a couple of National Parks and a state that doesn't like 'transient bugs' getting dropped off of OTR vehicles.

If you are too far from I-40 ie. more than 20 miles it may rule you out or be the icing on your MVR-cake, as to why they don't need another Havasuvian.

I'm lucky to live within a few miles of I-95 and even after 2 months I still get cards in the mail.

Not only do you have 3 tickets in a short timeframe, you have one that many insurance companies consider a "death sentence" when it comes to insurability to drive a CMV. For example; my insurance carrier would not allow me to hire a driver who has a following too close ticket anywhere on his record. As long as there is a "paper trail" leading to that ticket, you will be fighting an uphill battle.

Ok, here is my problem. I am a somewhat inexperienced driver, I worked for maverick for four months and then a local flatbed company for another 3. I got fired from maverick for failing to abide their 15 day truck wash rule, and I got terminated from UTI for getting the fifth wheel of my brand new classic XL on the frame of the trailer, yes that sounds retarded I agree, but it was my error for not lowering the landing gear far enough and then knocking the gear off the wood blocks. I have one DOT citation for failure to present medical card, and one speeding ticket in the last 3 years. I have tried to get a driving job for over a month now and the only offer I have had is from Gainey in which I will have to be out 14-17 days----- not an option as I am getting married soon, and I dont want to prematurely sign divorce papers.

Does Anyone have any suggestions for Flatbed companies preferably that may hire me with my limitations/ and or qualifications? I am 23 years old, and everyone I talked to with an exception of Gainey with their prestigious 100 I.C.C rating requires me to call them back in 6 months. I am on a rocky start to my career with 2 terminations that could have been easily preventable-- minor incidents in my opinion, but I am finding this industry to be quite unforgiving.

Oh yea, and one more thing, I was approaching my 90 days with UTI and getting my insurance, My boss told me just the week before that he was going to give me a raise because he was happy that I could "super truck" for him and not complain about it basically. One little scratch on a new truck and take it all away. Not every company out there gives a 2 month employee a brand new pimped out truck unless they like the guy. So my problem isnt work ethic.

I think that at this point you are making a serious mistake in keeping your focus on flatbeds. The idea should be to find ANY job, then narrow it down .

is there a reason your wife-to-be can't travel with you OTR? Even for a few months, until you perhaps land a local job or get your transfer into the regional fleet?

Im not narrow on my search at all, though you can't tell cause of my wording, I have applied to several carriers, box van, tanker ect. Gainey is in fact a dry bulk carrier. The bad thing about my situation, My fiance teaches school, and is a continuing college student, so having her come with me is not an option. But I appreciate your suggestion very much. Anyone else have a carrier that might hire someone without a "Perfect Record", but a correctable one instead
