leaseing a truck

With all the companies out there that have a lease purchase program it seems that its to easy to make a mistake....

I am asking for a little help from personal experience not from newbies giving thier 2 cents......................................

what companies are good for miles and diver pay? I am kind of looking for something where i will own the truck when the lease is paid off and not have a huge boloon payment.
A few compaines I have been looking into are

John Christner Trucking
Prime
Transport America
Marten
Schnider
and dart but I have heard nohing good about them...

I have a year and a half driving and not tickets or accidents.
If anyone has experience with a lease purchace with any of these companies please let me hear what you have to say. Also If anyone knows any other good companies let me know.
Thanks

As a new member to this forum I thought it best to look around and get a feel for things before opening my big mouth, well here goes.

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND. Why would even consider a lease purchase at a time like this. Fuel at record prices, economy on a down hill slide, trucking companies going under at record rates. Not to mention the up coming election where IMO the best choice is letter "D" NONE OF THE ABOVE. Lease purchases are not the best way to go in good times, so for what it's worth think it over long and hard before you ruin yourself financially in what is already a poor economy.

That being said, I know three people who went with Prime a few years back, no one walked away with there truck at the end. JCT has a good reputation. Best of luck.

I am going to have to agree with RoadBoss...this is not the time to box yourself into a lease. Here is what I would do if I eventually wanted to go that route once things pick back up. First, I find a successful owner-operator who would agree to mentor me (teach me some of what he knows). I bet you could ask around and find an old-timer who would be honored to help you learn the tricks. At the same time, I would go to the local college and see if they have some business courses to take OR if they have a small business development department. Get in there and learn as much as you can. Knowledge is your friend when in business...know everything about trucking/best business practices BEFORE taking on a lease. Also, become a whiz with spreadsheets, Quickbooks, mapping software, etc...then get someone at the college help you to develop a business plan which has scenarios for "best case", "probable case", and "worse case". That way you will know what you need to do (miles, revenue, etc) before you commit to a lease.

I would have to agree this is definitaly not the time for lease purchase i know someone who turn there lease back to the company because the fuel price and economy is at it's worst i would rather be a company driver and let the company chalk up the bill

I know that I am a newbe and that you dont want to hear from a newbe but just because I am new dosnt mean I dont know things so I am going to give my .02 worth. I have been resurching this and with the right company leased to it is doable it will take a good bussiness person. When I do go to O/O leased to a co. I will try to get a loan for the truck not do the lease/pur. You have to check out the contract completly so as there is no hide thing that will end up screwing you up. Sorry I jumped but that is my .02
