have cdl driving local/regional want to go big
i have been driving local/regional for two years in a f450 with gooseneck flatbed hauling golf course mowers. im looking to move up to the big boys. what would be a good company to try. would like to stay regional southeast. any info be appreciated. thanks in advance.

danc694u - How would the industry look at a year and a half of state wide hauling a three axle detachable gooseneck lowboy hauling heavy construction equipment? Clean drugs and no accidents.

They would view it as Zero OTR experience. They might require you to ride with a finisher/trainer for a few weeks. To show you can handle the job.

However, your situation comes with a huge plus. You have some heavy haul experience. Which could open a few more doors for you

I would throw my hat into the "heavy equipment" lease company mailbox. These guys lease out oversize equipment, then transfer it (with their own trucks) between job sites. With the right company, you would find steady work, and a damn good paycheck.

They won't consider that a tractor trailer. You are basicly going to have to do a refresher course then go in as a new/student driver or get a company that won't require a refresher course and go otr with a trainer. Most co's want recent OTR in a tractor trailer or a recent grad from a school on account of insurance reasons.

thanks for the info all. i dont mind a refresher course it would be helpfull i just dont want to pay out of pocket to do it. any suggestions of companies to look at?
