Hello all. I am a full time college student and just lost my job. I have some money banked (for getting CDL if I decide to) and am wondering if there are seasonal jobs in trucking. I would be able to work June/July/August and December. I know I'm probably asking too much but if you could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Well I am not sure what to tell you on that but I know how it feels to not get replies so here you go. I can tell you this you may not want to waste your hard earned money getting a cdl and the training the companies require you to have these days. I am not saying you cant find something just that it will be a bigger challenge for you. If you wanted to drive long term it may be worth it... If you dont mind bad credit you can go to a company driving school and then work there for a few months a quit to get the exper. I started out at Stevens and the school cost just dropped of my credit took 10 years but its gone...I wish you luck in what ever you choose. I would stay in school and look for other things like pizza del or something for cash....GOOD LUCK!!

Get a job as a bar back or bartender; lots of babe's.

Hot fun in the summertime.

Or a waiter.

Or get into construction if your construction industry hasn't been taken over by Mexican's, you can work during the summer get laid off for fall and start your classes.

You can get a job as a dump driver, garbage truck, cement truck and a host of others that only require a class B. Some seasonal, others not.

Here's a quick tip for you. Domino's if you have a set of wheels.

Independantly owned Domino's pay very well. Some even toss in "per mile" bonuses to cover fuel cost.

Guy I heard the other day, was getting $6.85 an hour, and 34 cents per mile for deliveries. Plus tips. That ain't bad for haulin pizza

I don't know where he was from. I'm sure your pay scale will vary

I did the pizza thing way back (domino's) best job I ever had LOL
And it paid very well 22 years ago I was making over 500 a week after fuel, good pay for a kid

I called around for the pizza thing and no one was hiring. One guy said try back in the winter.
If I got a CDL B, you think I could find maybe an overnight shift doing dump? I wouldn't know how to go about looking for it though...

Years ago I worked for the Arkansas Highway Department . One of my coworkers worked nights as a bartender at Shakey's . I told him when he checked the I.D. of a real hot babe to make a note of her name and address and look up her phone number later . Best dating advice he ever had .

If you live near a big city and you have a vehicle you might look into a courier company. You won't get rich but you won't work that hard either.

I know a lot of guys on here say to drive a dump, or cement truck on here even with no experience, but its much harder than you think. At least in my area. Since March I probably applied to over 20 companies (when I had my class B) and not one company would consider me. Now with a Class A, Im still having trouble with it. Maybe its just my neck of the woods that sucks

You could try getting on with your local DOT for summer and winter jobs.

I read in the expedite classified all the time about OO looking for guys to team with
All you need is I think class B
