I would say Celadon talk to Becky J. in recruiting. LogsR us works there she is the log lady. My husband works for them gets good money and miles the only time he has a bad paycheck is when he comes home

Honor Roll, isn't it rude how that happens? We get bad checks when hubby comes home, too.

Hubby works for Transport America. They're trying to get their crap together and although they AREN'T doing so great right now, they are improving. You just have to hope for a good fleet manager and planner from the driver's (hubby's) side of things and that you get someone with their head out of their butt on the customer service (my) side of things! In general, though, I think it's going to wind up being ok in the long run and they have pretty good driver packages.

Thanks for the advice !! I'm just a bit worried because my husband had worked for celadon about 7 years ago and the pay was good but they started treating him like crap. Respect was just not a word they knew. I know companies change but I wasn't sure if that one had. I thought TA sounded like a good company and he would be making more per mile but if they don't run you, it really doesn't matter what you make !! I really don't know a lot about TA and how they treat team drivers (my husband is team)

I don't get that that. Are you joking? If he comes home, you have a bad paycheck?

That being said, if he stays out you are able to pay the bills/have fun. If not, your family suffers?

If that is the case, OTR is worse than I thought. What a sadly pathetic state of affairs for those drivers/families. I hope this is just a joke.

Drive safe

When he takes his home time it shows in his paycheck that is what I mean. He sets aside money each week for different things bill money in one acct and home time money in another so we as a family can do something and there is an acct for the road. Bonus money goes in the home time acct and he gets that every 30,000 miles

[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. Truckers , I think the phrase goes, "If the wheels aren't turning, then you aren't earning," or something like that. If they're not running a load and are home instead for whatever reason, then yes, they don't get paid to be home. It's pretty much just like an office job. If you work 40 hrs a week and then start only working 32, your paycheck will suffer.

I'm not sure on team drivers at T/A. I hear a lot of stuff from hubby about the drivers there that he talks to when he sees them. Some are quite content with it and some aren't. You get a bunch of men together, though, and you'll get some whining out of the boys over one thing or another. Sometimes it's not even about the company, but about the fact that some people expect everything to be done for them. It's just funny that way.

Anyhow, if you're lucky and your hubby does go to TA, there's a gal in Eagan (Mary) that I'll keep my fingers crossed that your fella gets. That's who hubby has and she does well by him and is very nice to deal with.

FWIW: I worked for Celadon from 99 to 03 and they were great to work with. I took 2 days off at home every 2 weeks and ONLY ONCE did they not get me home on time. That's a good record. I was in there 48 & Canada fleet starting out then I moved to the TX Regional fleet. They ended up dis-banding the TX fleet and made it fall back into 48 & Canada fleet.

The reason I left Celadon was a change in perspective for me: I needed to be home very often and they were unable to provide that which I understand. They were at the time the perfect fit for me. Like so many things, time can change the way companies operate. It may not be the same "driver-oriented" mentality now, but it was great back then!

Hope this helps

"Tex".
