Whats up with Illinois?
I have noticed on several companies hiring maps, that Illinois is blacked out. I don't live there and it doesn't affect me, but was just curious as to why companies don't hire from there.

mostly over here you ether get lucky or you know someone in a company.
for myself im going to go over the road for a while probley about two years and then come back to the company I know the boss pretty well.
they wanted to hire me but i just didnt have any experience other than my time at the training school. many of the good places around here want a experience driver or a owner operator and with the schools you have to almost push them for them to help you get a job. I got tired of waiting on the school. so im fireing apps at every OTR company i can think of.I hope someone calls soon I want to go to colorado springs perfeble i would amost like to move there lol

May have to do with the new law in illinois stating that you have to retake everthing when you want to transfer your cdl into that state.

Some companies may not want to have to deal with that.

There are many companies hiring from Illinois. I have not seen any problems such as you suggest. Most of the people that live in Illinois already have licenses. I don't believe someone would move just to get a job in Illinois.

I think what he was referring to is that when you leave Illinois to get company sponsored training, your CDL is issued from the state where you trained. But when you get back home to Illinois, you need to retest in order to transfer your new out of state CDL into Illinois.

No, what I am referring to is that USA and Pam both have Illinois blacked out and do not hire drivers from there was just curious as to why.

it may be a that they dont hire in illinoise because they have no freight running thru there and know they will have a hard time getting you home or have to many people living there already

Doing more research, it appears that they dont take newbies from Illinois. Something to do with Illinois' CDL laws about retesting. If you already have your CDL and live there you are good too go.
