After researching MANY companies, I've come to the conclusion that no one hires drivers that live in South Florida. Only a few of them even serve this area. What gives? Does anyone know of a company that I could hire on with that would hire a driver from down here?
BTW - the hiring information is based on what I found on company websites. They usually have a little map that highlights both their operating areas as well as their hiring area.
Do ANY major carriers hire from South Florida?

FL is the freight black hole of the country. everything goes in and NOTHING comes out. when you do book a load to fl you usually end up bouncing out empty. companies don't hire there because they can't get you home without bouncing you out and that's too expensive these days.
look at some of the food grade tank co's that run orange juice etc out of there.
oakley, indian river transport are to on top of my headBigKahunaFL Thanks this. -
If you don't mind commuting, there are quite a few companies with terminals in the Winter Haven, Lakeland area that you might try.
WEL(Wisconsin Express Lines), Willis Shaw Express, Walbon and company come to mind here.
There are a few Miami based companies, but most are owner ops. or small fleets.
Another route you might explore are the container companies that run out of the ports down there.
