For around $40,000 you can get a good low mileage Freightliner M2 that will perform better and last a lot longer . I know several hotshotters that moved up to a medium duty and all wished they made the move sooner . Unlike in any 1 ton the back seat of an M2 crewcab is wide enough to adapt to a legal DOT sleeper .

I would one up it from the M2. I would get a small mid roof sleeper class 8 tractor and have it switched to single axle. Talked to multiple drivers hauling new trailers out of indiana pickups would get about 7MPG and the class 8 I saw got between 9-11 depending on the load. It was a 53ft wedge with trailers on it. I think you could make some great money with say a 40ft GN trailer or a custom made stepdeck and a class 8 single axle rig. The M2 and other medium duty trucks are good they just are all gear and no power. Those things dont have much more power then your powerstroke does brickman, they just all have crazy gears like 5.12:1.

I was looking at this pic and thought that maybe his load is too heavy or the pin too far back.If this piture upsets most of you guys then I wont send in our pics of our 2012 long horn crew cab dually.we have a large heavy equipment operation and our truck and trailer regulary pull 30-33,000 on it all the time.It is used to move the leads or hammer or drill rig for our cranes. Some times it may even carry the counter weight for our big tower cranes. That is the reason why these trucks have helper springs on them, and we dont tow far at all .maybe 100 miles at best and it is also driven by a local 282 teamster who has logged 2million miles in his 37yrs with us.as far as making more money than the big rigs,I do think that you could make ALOT MORE .If you buy a truck anew or a year old(our longhorn was 58k but our driver wanted that crazy texan interior)and a trailer cost say 17 or 18k this is a lot cheaper than buying a used pete or whatever than a trailer and insurance and fet and every thing else.We own 45 dumptrucks and trailer dumps. If that boy cant clear 100-125k a year than something is wrong with him.We are thinking about buying 2 more dodge 5500s and two more trailers and trying to get contracts to move bobcats or some type of skid steers or mini excavotors around long island or new york.but they will most likely get used in thr heavy equipment rental industry.

Hello, I know it's been a while since the OP was here, but I was talking to some of your clients and they said your rate was too high for services rendered. Wondering if you can make change. You over charger.
