Finished my training hours last monday. No routes or trucks available. Even those wanting to go back out with a trainer again were sent home. I call them everyother day and the only thing available is if you want to drive as a team. I did notice that the last orientation class only had 5 people in it. When I went through there were 20. I'm not holding my breath that a route will come available anytime soon.

Im going April 20th and everything is good to go...no phone calls telling me different, I was pre approved but then again that means nothing. Good luck in your job hunt

Werner fired my boyfriend this morning due to 8 late loads in the last year...the company handbook allows 4 a year. Nevermind, three of these were due to bad directions on the company's end. He's been with them for 14 years, just got a new truck and his yearly bonuses, and now this. They don't take into account how many times the drivers are early to deliver, and then have to sit and wait to be unloaded (sometimes running out their hours so they have to spend the night there). He had a little over a 100,000 miles to reach his million miles of safe driving. But that's okay...it will be good to have him home for awhile.

Werner has had issues filling the trainee's into truck role for some time. Past posts and discussions with others have proved this. I was due to start training with them late Feb, then early March. I did not go due to my own reasons.
I've spoken recently with a Driver and trainee here in town, at one of their drops. Driver likes the company, but see's a slowdown. His suggestion, if you get with a Trainer, don't dare get off that truck till you get your own.
Another poster mentioned team, they do have spots for team, and they will find you a team-mate. Once again.... don't get off your Trainers truck unless you have to or he throws you out. Even for team, you may have a long wait. better to be working than sitting waiting for a call.
Just my two-bit. -
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully with as many years under his belt, he'll find another good kick without delay. Sucks that he may need to run up through the ranks again though, and he was likely on a nice dedicated too.
Be Well, God Bless, keep the faith. -
Werner,
Lets see. Do they constantly advertise in truckstop magazines? Yes they do. Therefore, they are a bad company. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of them. They advertise for one reason only. Turnover.
That should send up many red flags. Don't do it.

I constantly hear arrow trucking, jb hunt and scheinder adds 24/7 on XM radio its not like only werner advertises.
Anyway getting your own truck with werner right now largely depends on where you live. Call up Driver placement (tell them you are a driver even if you haven't started orientation yet) and ask what is available in you area (they will ask for your zipcode). If they say nothing........ you probably shoudlnt go to werner unless you want to hope for somehing to open up. -

My son was pre approved for training by Werner but hasn't gone because of problems with them that we read about on this forum. I sent an e-mail to the recruiter but havn't received a reply. This is what I asked him:
1.How long does it take to go from trainee to being assigned your own truck and if none available will he be terminated after 30 days?
2.How many trainees are currently waiting for a
truck assignment in Allentown?
3What is the turnover rate for Werner drivers and how much of the hiring is due to new business as opposed to drivers quitting ?
4.What are the average miles per week for new drivers; I know what the brochure says but they were printed when times were good ,what is the real deal today? He will be leaving a 40 hour a week home every night job with benefits. He's only grossing 400 per week thats why he got his cdl hoping to find something more lucrative. He knows he has to pay his dues but he doesn't want to leave a guaranteed check unless it's for something with more potential. I kow that's alot of ?'s to ask but it's better to ask now than to find out from the school of hard knocks. Thanks, waiting for your reply --- Havn't heard back from him yet and don't think I will ; he'll find an easier fish to fry . Whosedog
