| Proud Parents I have been a successful smoker for almost 3 million cigarettes. I have attended the Debbie Dootson stop truck-driving school, but to no avail. I just cant seem to kick the truck driving habit no matter how hard I try. Im afraid that second hand driving may cause health problems for other, I even have been accused of back seat driving, and my truck does not have a back seat only a built in bar and smokers lounge, No room in the sleeper for a seat since I installed the big screen tv.

| I have to at least give the guy credit for wanting to get some time behind the wheel. As all of you seasoned drivers know it's not like it used to be. There was a time that you just jumped in the truck and your dad, uncle, neighbor, or whom ever took you out and taught you to drive. It doesn't work that way now, so if a person really has that desire to drive, they have to do some sort of school. We all know the drill about this. Then after that we all know what happens... No one will hire that person or they wind up going to a trucking "sweat shop". If they make it past that, who knows maybe they keep wanting to drive or forget it. I have to agree with the previous poster, this person isn't asking for anything from anyone except the chance to drive. He's not asking for money or anyone's job, just the chance to drive so that he can learn. I really don't see anything wrong with that. This is a tough industry so if we can help someone achieve their goal, why not? Trans Man at the risk of starting some s### it shows that you aren't a driver so why are you so worried about him getting a driving job? This is a petty statement but, I sincerely hope I don't know you and that you don't live close to me, cause I know we wouldnt be friends.

| Also employers know people expect to get what they are worth . If they ask for nothing they are obviously work nothing . Anyone with any abilities would ask for compensation . No O/O in his right mind would let someone with no experience behind the wheel . I don't know how anyone can say someone working for free isn't taking someone's job . Was the truck sitting idle waiting for him to come along ?

| While I haven't seen evidence that it's a problem in this industry, in the aviation world, the "I'll work for free" thing is a huge problem. As was recently in the news, the co-pilot on your regional airline flight may be making less than a taxi driver or the kid flipping burgers at burger king. The reason is largely because the jobs go to people with little experience and you have to take those jobs to get the experience to get the good paying jobs. Why do they pay so little? Because there's a line of people willing to do it for free. Everyone knows that for everyone hired there are several willing to work for free to get the experience. It cheapens the job to say you'll do it for free. The time you put into the job is worth something. If it's free, then the job isn't worth anything, and neither are you. While every job inherently has things you do that you don't get paid for, to simply say you'll do the whole job for free cheapens yourself. |

| Most students that go to truck driving school actually pay to learn the basics. Learning for free if one can find an O/O to give him a shot isn't a bad deal. As long as he has passed the written exam first. Everyone had to start somewhere. |
