I started with Schneider and it really was a good place. The pay was kinda on the low side but, it was always there and it was always right. Went coast to coast and to Canada(alot). Did my job well and was left alone for the most part, they only hassled me about my idle time. After I told them I didn't care about the bonus and it was for comfort they dropped the issue. The equipment was so-so, I never had an major problems other than broken a/c they wouldn't fix on the road.
The other than that, you might get a little grief from other drivers, but from what i've read on here most other major carriers are worse.
Matter of fact i'm trying to get rehired...just my 2 cents -
I am a Marine myself. Serviced in the the 1st Marine DIV AFTER DOING 3.5 YEARS IN FAST COMPANY. To be completely honest with you no matter where you go your first company is going to suck. Mainly because most drivers have no idea what they have in store for them. You being a Marine I think you would do nest to give Schneider National a call and be a pumpkin driver( big organge trucks). I have worked with the top four large carriers in the past ten years and would say Schneifder was the best. Good home time, good miles (but the will make you team for awhile, until you get a couple months of experience). Looking back they were the best company I was with, just couldn't see it when I got out of the Corps, killer ego in all. Good Luck and if you have further ?'s just ask.

My guy and I have this dream of becoming team OTR truck drivers. We get along very well, enjoy one another's company and we both want to make this career change. But what we keep viewing is that companies send you out for months separately with some other driver. Are there any that will train a team together? I like the idea of teaming with my man but not comfortable with the idea of teaming with a stranger.

How would that work?Trainer sits in the sleeper the hold time?
