ah. well, that's called "competition." doesn't surprise me that they would have OTR drivers doing local work. they probably save even more that way. when I pulled flatbed for them, I would occasionally pull a load that seemed like it should be done by a day driver.

Dewey! I remember their trucks. I think a friend of mine sold a CO Pete to them. He might have driven for them too. I drove local for a landscaping company back then. Did a short stint with Aviation Fuels out of Ft.Myers.

I called MTC they said they would train me and do job placement,
but I would have to pay for the training program up front, and that they would HELP with locating a company to work for, but no promises

I had the same issues, I live in Florida and could not get into any company training, they kept asking me to call them back in few weeks, So I ended up going to a school in Tampa myself and got my cdl. It is really hard if not impossible to find driving jobs (with no experience) in Florida. If I don't find anything in next couple of weeks, I will be moving to Texas.

If you live north of i4 you have a better chance.If you dont,well good luck.There tons well was tons of local gigs but they pay by the hour which is fine with me but now they the employers are trying to pay as low they can becouse they know times and jobs are hard to find in Florida.Any way you have to have at lease 1 year experince before you go local.If you cant get the training try driving a dump truck,thats im thinking of doing.A job is a job,it pays the bills.

I also have been looking into driving a dump truck, but they are also looking for people with experience. I live north of Tampa and its still hard to find a CDL Job, even OTR ones.

Windy Hill Folliage, Eustis, Florida are looking for 6 months of experience, if your a Graduate from Roadmaster. I asked the lady why is that and she couldn't give me a definitive answer why. I also asked what's the difference what school I went too and she was still stumped n the question.

I will be calling ABCO Transport, Tampa, Florida after 1pm. It seems everyone is out to lunch at this time. The phone keeps ringing for over 3 mins. I will post my results when I get an answer.
