If you go with England understand that you are not guaranteed a job after completion, they still have to hire you.I don't know how Stevens is set up.If going with England don't lease right away, ask around and know the ropes first.Good luck!

Far be it from me to give advice, but from what I've read on these boards from the experienced guys, you need to break in and get experience where you can. Everyone's situation is different, so it's tough to say exactly what to do from an outside perspective. Look at all options. If you can get the training and 6 months to year experience, then you can start looking for something better if you're not happy where you are. And the vast majority here say DO NOT LEASE.

If you live in silver springs, there are a few other choices !!!!

Have you considered swift ???? They have a terminal near OBS.

Commercial Carrier Corporation is also a choice, as is the college here that trains.

thanks guys, i don't plan on leasing EVER, my dad is an O/O and i see how it is and he hates it. my plan is to drive for Marten but i have to get at least 8 months OTR b4 they will hire me, i have researched every company that has cdl training, swift is not offering training at the moment, neither is CCC, right now its, Millis, Roehl, Stevens, Knight, CR England, USA Truck and Prime. I have already been turned down by Millis, Roehl, and Stevens.

    Howdy StrokedStang,
Welcome to the forums here at The Trucker's Report
    :toothy5:

Just curious, Stroked, --- does your dad have an opinion on CRE? With an owner/operator for a dad it seems he'd be the go-to guy for advice. Unless he's not in favor of you becoming a Big truck truck driver. If that's the case, I think I understand why he hasn't tried to dissuade you from signing CRE's dotted line.

If you don't mind my askin' -- why did you choose CRE?
Do you know anybody who drives for Marten?
Maybe your dad, --- And that's why you've chosen Marten?
What did you think when your research focused on CRE? Do you think the negativity toward CRE is anything you should be concerned about? Do you think there's any validity to the negative comments posted here, and elsewhere as well?

    How 'bout you?
Are you feelin' confident that you'll do alright?
Do you have an alternate plan B, in case plan A doesn't go as predicted?

If you don't change your mind about goin' with CRE, I wish you good luck, --- and hope that you'll keep us informed as to how it works out for you. :yes2557:

my dad told me to do what's best for me and my family, which means stay away from trucking but i have no other choice. he don't work for either CRE nor Marten. i've read alot about marten and i like what they have to offer that is why i would like to go with them. i was turned down by everyother company sponsered training, and i need 2600 to go to roadmaster. I got SCREWED by National Training in Jacksonville, FL. they took my money after i finished my training and told me that i no longer qualify for financing and i need to come up with 2200 to finish resident training. CRE is the only 1 that will give me a chance and NO i don't want to go but i have to start somewhere and i only need so much experiance before i can start applying elsewhere. if someone has a better idea i would love to hear it as i fly to dallas in 13 days

If, after CRE trains you, they decide not to hire you --- will you be any better off than you are now? Or would being rejected by CRE put you behind the 8-ball?

Having a plan is a good thing.
Having a plan B is better.
If I were you, I'd play it safe by buying a two-way ticket --- just in case.

despite all the negative on CRE and all the other companies that provide training with no credit check, i am starting with CRE on Monday. I am looking at this as my second enlistment. not expecting rainbows and fortune at first. But, after almost 99 weeks of unemployment, anything is worth a shot. this is the career i want now, and CRE is the door that is open.
