From what I have been reading they pay for it if you don't have the $$$ upfront....but you must work for the sponsor till the loan is paid off (usually 12 months)...NO MATTER WHAT (or pay a huge extra $$). They may also pay less per mile to their own grads than other new hires....I have seen 2 pay-scales for some company's..one with education reimbursement, one without.
If you don't...you pay tons more than if you had paid for it yourself (I think they have a pay cash up front option....it is like 1/3 of what you pay if you quit before the magic contract length). So if you have been working for them for 10 months of a 12 month payback...and you drop down to 10 miles a day....you can leave and pay like $10K. Simply put, if you have no other choice for a CDL, it is your only option...but a community collage is cheaper...or a Private school is likely more upfront, but gives you more options...and many company's still reimburse you....the $$ for private schools vary widely...from as little at $3000 to more than $10,000, so shop smart!! Different company training programs have different rules...some prorate the amount if you quit early...some do not....be sure to read the fine print, so you can make an informed descesion.

Well if I Had the full amount I would go to a CC, But since I broke and any money coming in is already going out for bills. I'm looking for a school that there is no up-front payment.

Have you researched for grant money? Are you on any type of assistance? Are you disabled or a veteran? It takes a lot of leg work but the help is there to cover some or all of training. It sucks to be broke bro I know. I'm prepared to share crop for a year or two if I have to though. Good luck.

I've been looking into this for about 3 weeks. REASERCH! Look # the companies the schools are set up with and as some of the others say on here... YOU have to make the choice that is right for YOU and your situation. I have come to realize it may stick for the first year no matter where you go. Get the school get some miles/time under you belt and then enjoy the ride. I've been talking to alot of companies and if you can find a way to pay for your own school that would free you up for change sooner. Hope this helps. This site is FULL of info!

Yes, I under stand what You mean. Tuesday Sept 28th I went to My local DPS (Texas MVC) and took the written tests and Passed. I Now just have to do a driven test to Get My CDL.

I want to have a leg up on this. This way if for any reason I get to the school and they say there is a problem with anything or let me go ( Like I have read about in other threads) I'll still have My CDL. I know it will be harder for to get a driving job, without schooling. But I did find a place that will take me if I can get 4 months of BTW driving for a company.

It will be local and regional driven. I also know I wont be making millions, but I'll be making more money driven then any other job I had in the past. I don't know why I didn't get My CDL when I got out of the Army, Since I was a Truck Driver in the Army.

mysticguido Have you checked out Prime trucking paid training program. The Driver Solutions located in my area has gotten mixed reviews.
