Glad everything worked out for ya. When you get on the road today, remember, breathe, listen to the instructor and...... oh yeah breathe. Nerves are the biggest obsticle to overcome. You miss a gear, fix it and move on. Also shifting isn't as hard if you find a rythm. Donald showed me that and it worked great. you'll notice cliques forming in the class. Find a few ppl that you get along with that take it as seriously as you do to pratice with. The one who chill on the yard are the ones who be for do overs on test day. Just relax and have fun. Ill try to get by one day and see everyone up that way.

Hey guys... I just graduated from Carolina Trucking Academy in Garner. It was alot of fun and the instructors were awesome. The trucks were pretty crappy, but I saw how some of the other students drove and I would never want them driving anything nice of mine. Im in the process of figuring out which company I want to go with. Do you guys have any input. Im looking for something with decent home time. I know pay will be bad and that is fine, Im willing to pay my dues. I just cant be out 3wks at a time. Are there any good companies around the Raleigh area that hire recent grads???

Check out cargo transporters and epes. Also look on craigslist, never know what may turn up.

Ok, today was my second day behind the wheel. My only bad mark was taking a 90 degree turn above 3rd gear. One bad mark out of nineteen though, not bad in my book, especially considering how everyone else on my truck got the same exact mark. Now my next ride will be in a different truck with a different instructor, could be good, could be bad, but I feel like the instructor we had set us up to do well on our next ride.

So far my wife is loving the fact that I'm coming home happy, as opposed to stressed and p-o'ed like I was in my last job. I know I have her full support throughout this entire transition.

Also, I have one solid job lead right now with McElroy Truck Lines. I'm gonna be calling the head of recruiting tomorrow to see how my application process is going, and to see if I can do anything else to make her job easier. If I can land this one, you're gonna have one happy trucker on your hands.

More to come. Sorry it's taken so long, I've been wicked busy the last week or so.

You been talkin to Detra or Kasey? Both are great. Gonna try to get up that way soon and see everyone. And wouldn't hurt to throw one in with us. We are still short on drivers. Has its probs yeah but to get home a cpl times a week, reset at home and make good $ ain't bad for right outta school. And not sharin a truck with a trainer is a plus!

Frawg, I've been talking to Detra at MTL.

Today was interesting had a guy go ape on one of the girls in class and was escorted off of campus by Smithfield PD. Good time really. Besides that I'm getting crazy confident on the forward exercise. Good day in class all in all. Driving V03 in the morning (Volvo, for those that havent been to JCC before).

Wish I had been on yesterday. V03 has NO detent spring! So easy to go to R instead of 2nd. And practice now, in a few weeks you go to backing and no more forward till test time. And the backing is NUTS! But ohhhhh so necessary and useful.

Yeah, that detent spring is pretty much non-existent in that truck, but Van gave me all yesses on both rides. He says hi by the way. Qualifying starts next Monday, I think I'm in pretty good shape for that at this point. We'll see I guess. Started reading that insanely boring regs book yesterday. zzzzzzzzzzz. But all important info I guess.

While your on lunch break, drive the Qualifying routes a couple times in your car.9 speed route is not that bad once you get past the block turn(I heard DOT cut that block turn curb back) so it might be easier now.10 speed route the biggest problem people had was making the turn from 301 to 70 and then going up the heart break hill on 70.Also make sure you double check your log book before you turn it in.Those points add up at the end.good look with qualifying. We started with 32 people and ended with 17.
