I have been reading the posts from everyone all day and learned a lot from everything that everyone said. I have been looking into joining CRS for a while now and on July 4th i was lucky enough to talk to one of their Trainers. He was doing his laundry with one of his trainee's and talked with them. I learned a lot about the company that helped me want to join. Also reading everything here helped a great deal.
I Currently have my CDL-A with Hazmat endorsement. talked with a recruiter and was told that the hazmat is unneeded as they dont use it. My only problem though is everyone here never had their CDLs before. and im wondering how it works for someone who actually has theirs. Obtained mine by taking the test and passing. Been working locally for a company feb. Will be 3 years and wondering if that would help. The recruiters said i would go do the driving test then if i past would go straight to trainer for 5 weeks another would say i wouldnt be with them that long. But when i talked with the trainer and Trainee they said i have to do so many hours driving and so many backups. Trying to get the story straight from a recruiter sometimes is harder then pulling a tooth out of a hungry lions mouth.
Anyways i put my application in last night and want my starting date to be around December that way i can train in winter weather. Learn in the mean all else is green.
If anyone knows anything that could help me out please inform me on here. ill be checking in daily to see how everyone is doing and all.
Big Rigg your doing great with this forum by going through your schooling. i think it would open alot of peoples eyes to see exactly what they are to expect instead of going blindly. Glad you got a great trainer. I sort of wish that i could get the trainer that i talked with.
PS. The trainer told me to mention his name and truck number. He would get a bonus. Said if he gets it and all from me he would treat me to a meal. haha. Anyways. if your interested in learning about a company. Best place to find all the information is from the company Drivers and usually they will want you to refer them for their little bonus. Anything and everything is helpful when your on the road or looking to run it.

I want to say thank you to all that posted their experience on here. I was pretty much ready to settle with PRIME then stumbled across CRS and started looking into the company and found this thread. AWSOME thread. Seems very fast paced and hands on, I love hands on learn better and quicker. I also like the fact they dont try to tie you to a trainer for 4-6 months. Again thanks and I will be calling a CRS recruiter tomorrow!

how long did it take from your first talk to a recruiter to a set leave date,i understand it's differant for everybody because of differant background issues, but it's got to be relativly close,i'm asking because another trucking company gave me the run around because i wasn't employed for 6 months out of last 3 yrs, well i wasn't on the books,so i didn't qualify after weeks of playing phone tag,any info would be appreciated. how far in advanced can they set a date to leave?

from what im told and read about training starts every monday. now how long it takes for you to get with them all depends on recruiters maybe. i know i turned mine in over a week ago and never heard back from a recruiter but also i got my start date as Dec 1st.

yeah unless your talking about heading to training within a week or so from talking to them then you not gonna have to much conversation with a recruiter. move your start date up and thing will move a lil faster. i am headed to Conley in a few weeks.

Just talked with a recruiter and that pretty much what they said.since I want to train during winter they said to call roughly two weeks before I ready to leave. Funny thing is I want to leave now but want to train go cold weather and also if I leave my current job would lose all my bonus money also I get at end of year.

decisions.... decisions...... i see where you coming from. i was skeptical about training in the winter i kinda BS around all summer so now its looks like i have no choice, bills are stacking up so i got to do what needs to be done plus i been hearing all kinda great things from people so i guess it will not be so bad!
