I am going to a private school in North Alabama and will graduate Friday, In my oppinion I don't beleive there could be a better school. Even tho I went through WIA or the Warn Act to pay for my schooling, thier cost was only $2000.00. It is a 4 week 160 hour course and you learn in a automatic and a 10 speed manual transmission trucks. It might be cheaper to go to school and stay in a motel than paying $6200.00. rdubill - If you havent already committed, you might contact your local employment office to ask about WIA (Workforce In Action) funding. If you can get it, it will pay total school costs, including CDL tests. It even pays a small amount for daily fuel costs to get back & forth to the school, or may cover lodging if that is part of the school's cost. It's definitely worth checking into.

This is a 10-week CDL course is in Appleton WI. Cost for In-state tuition is app. $1,700, is PTDI certified, does on-site testing, and earns 12 college credits upon completion. It is the best deal, overall, that I have found.

Here's where I would welcome your input..... I live in Michigan, and out-of state tuition is app. $5,400. But the person I contacted at FVTC said they have an agreement whereby... I go to Wisconsin, apply for a driver's license giving a Wisconsin address (Was told if i have relatives living there, and i do... to list that address) then complete the training, and take/pass the test. Then I would have 30 days to "transfer" my license back to The Wolverine state. He even said that, in the past, they have accompanied students to the dmv to "answer any questions they might have".

I googled Wisconsin residency requirements, and didn't really find an any requirements for establishing residency. Then I pulled up the application for the college and found one line stating, I am a legal resident of _______
county of ________ state.... Yeah, I know.... What the #### does this have to do with trucking?! Right? Anyway, The college said they would get back to me. But I just thought I would pass on the info regarding Schooling. Good luck and happy trails.

Let me know about your experience with PAM if you would. My husband and I are looking into career changes and want to "team drive" and are going with PAM most likely in a matter of weeks. I've read tons of bad reviews about Schneider and Swift and only a couple about PAM as well as good about PAM. No whiner here so I think we will be fine but just trying to stay ahead of the game. I would like to know more specifically about PAM Dedicated. Anyone know how long before we are actually in a truck teaming as a couple?

what's $6,200 if you have the potential to make up $100,000 a year, in a short amount of time down the road. think about it nothing worthwhile is free. people spend lots more to go to a college for 4 years, and don't make as much money.Remember you get what you pay for! Even if you only make 30,000 in your first year, and pay it back right away ;you should still have enough left over. I don't know of anyone who payed there college back there first your after gradation. Get a student loan for as long a possible and pay it up a little early, if money is concerned.if you have a good month say 3000 mile a week at 30 cents a mile each week thats more than half of your schooling $3900 for the month paid off

In case you're currently employed: Don't forget to include loss of income when you calculate the cost for your CDL. If you attend a daytime class at a community college for 6-8 weeks, that can add up to quite a bit of money.

Well the road to 100 grand is a little longer than you think.

shure it aloot of work is but think about some one who goes to a private college for 4 year at 18,000 (72000) to be a teach will get there first a job at mybe 25,000 in new york will take them a very long time to pay that back more than 10 years

I want to know where your going to make $100,000.00 a year driving a truck I'll quit getting blown up and come home and work for them. I have never till i took this job in the war zone made $100,000.00 a year in 13 years of driving even as an owner operator made that kind of money. Well i made more than that as an O/O just never got to keep much of it when all boiled down after expences.

i did not say you would make it in your first year i said "you have the potential to $100,000 in a short time" example pay $6900 get license ; get job make 30k in first year ; get experience ; 3rd year of experience get own truck (not through one of those company scams lease programs) and not a new truck a used truck for the first truck say with some were between 250,000 to 350,000 miles on the engine and upgrade as the business grows

trust me there are not a lot of college graduates that make 30,000 there first year and it would take a long time if if ever to make 100,000 a year as a teacher. 4 years of college plus master plus PhD minimum to make $100,000 a year as a teacher how much do you think that type of schooling costs a lot more than $6900 dollars plus years to pay it off my point is this " two moths at a average of 2500 Miles a week at 30 cents a mile is $3000 a month or $750 a week or ; at 50 mph average that's $15 an hour for 50 hours a week at 55mph average thats $16.50 an hour for 45 1/2 hours a week (rember no overtime) 60 miles an hour average 41.6 hours $18.00 an hour (remember overtime starts after a 40 hours a week) 63 miles an hour average 39.7 hours a week (just under overtime) 18.90 an hour remember teacher do not get overtime either and they have a lot of work to do at home how ever the do get the summers off but most have to find summer jobs. because there education cost them thousands of dollars unless they got a scholarship
