Driver Training Solutions. Spokane, Wa
I just graduated from DTS in Spokane, Wa and I wanted to give my little review here about the grounds, instructors, equipment ect.. First I want tot say that I had a BLAST in my 5 weeks with them. The school is on the yard for TSI (Trans-System Inc.) Trans System covers System Transport, TWT and JJ Williams.
The grounds are what you'd expect from a truck yard. A lot of dirt on dry days and mud on wet days. Make sure you wear water proof boots. My only complaint about the grounds is that working trucks use the same space that school trucks do, so you're constantly yielding to trucks. Other than that, good place to keep your mind on the subject.
The school itself is nothing more than a big trailer with a few rooms in it. Not to say that it is small, it's just nothing special. Heat, 2 bathrooms and plenty of room.
The instructors, my favorite part. Pat, Jim, Denny, Bill, Dave and Barb. Some of the most down to earth, foul mouthed, funny people I've ever met. They're typical truckers with enough stories to take up a school day and leave you wanting more. They'll tell you how it is, and why it is. They also dont mind raising they're voice if their student isn't listening tot what they're saying. I couldn't have asked for a bettter group of teachers.
The trucks that the school uses are older, experienced trucks. There are 8 of them and they all have over 1million miles. But nothing ever broke down and we never had any down time because of equipment. They are all regularly maintained and taken care of. Some frieghtliners, Internationals and Kenworths.
All and all I'd give this school a 10/10. Very friendly environment, good trucks and enough knowledge to pass on to anyone that wants to hear it. Thanks DTS!
