Went to their orientation yesterday. Foodlink is a non-profit that delivers food to food banks all over CA. they train you how to get your CDL in exchange for volunteer work and a 6 week internship pulling local loads. In addition to getting ALL your endorsements they also offer a class B if you choose. Before you get your license you do warehouse work and then drive straight trucks making deliveries/pickups in the Sacramento, metro area. In all you'll pay about 200-300 in DMV fees and drug tests and a DOT physical. In addition to the fees there's a general knowledge test, 7th grade stuff.

Im scheduled to start July 6'th and graduate November 9'th. though there is one speeding thicket that may screw it all up for me. I'm praying the judge will understand that I'm trying to better my life and not put me to the fire. I've made some mistakes(no felonies thankfully) but driving trucks is something I've wanted to do since I was a kid.

Anyway that's all for now Ill update this when July 6'th comes around.

You have made the best and cheapest choice in this area.

I went through the school and was a company driver there for 2 years. You will leave there being able to drive well, you have the possibility of getting 5000 + miles of experience with the company drivers if you get your license quickly.

They run the school very strictly to control all the differing personalities and expectations. If your smart just keep your head down and November will be here quickly.

Update - Due to legal issues between me and the state of California I will not be able to attend starting July 9'th. I probably wont be able to for quote some time. I somply cannot afford to take 18 weeks off work with crushing court fees and cost of living on both sides. And I certainly cant afford any other schools in the area. I have spent the last several weeks trying to make trucking a possibility for me but it seems its not happening for me right now.

Does anyone know if this training assistance program, or anything like it is available in 2022?
