Roadmaster - columbus, Ohio
Hey everyone...
I have read several opinions \ articles \ reviews about Road master - Columbus, Ohio. I wanted to ask for some opinion and thoughts from the group here. I also was wondering if anyone has some ideas on alternatives to Roadmaster? I have also seen some stuff from different carriers that will train you and help you get your CDL, if you agree to drive for them for a period of time.
as always, thanks for sharing your wisdom with this newbie.

I went through Roadmaster in Columbus. they did what they said they would which is help learn enough to pass the cdl test. I am currnetly employes as a driver. So the question becomes , WAS it worth the cost of tuition to be employed? I say yes, but I would suggest researching less expensive alternatives first. Not as a negative against RM but 5-6K is a chunk of change. Look into community colleges first. They are more thorough in their training and much cheaper, although they take a little bit longer. I think you would be a more well rounded driver through longer schooling. Mostly because of more seat time.
STAY AWAY from company cdl schools. If for whatever reason you no longer work fo rhtem you are still on the hook to them for the schooling fee. Have heard many horror stories about owing the tuition to the company and being out of a jjob and unable to get other work. IMO its just not worth it to go to a company school.

The attraction to me for RM was I could do the training on the weekends and keep my current job till I completed school, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the weekend classes for RM? I would be leaving a job and taking a pay cut to become a driver, I am tired of being in the cooperate rat race.

Well that would be a smart move. The weekend classes I mean. I quit my job to do the 3 week. Class. Made it a little dicey there financially just before getting hired where I am now
