I know some places in oc (santa ana) thats cheap, about 1200 not sure if thats too far for you

go to c1 truck driving school. they got pam and use trucking, that will pay for it. but u will have to drive for them

Alliance has alot of good reviews, but they are from 2008-2010. Are they still top notch or were those reviews fake? I also live in the valley and looking for a close to home school since gas is expensive

ok, so I went with High Desert up in Sun Valley, cost was $1900. Bare bones basically is what you get. they say you get trained in 10 speeds not so. here`s what I got, the DMV commercial license handbook, was told to study it and go get my permit, if I wanted hazmat, dbl`s and tanker add on`s, it was going to be $300 extra. there is NO classroom learning except a couple video`s that I saw on the pre-trip inspection. I know they have more but I didnt get to watch them. when you go to get your permit just study the handbook and get your add on`s and save the money, its all there in the book for you and the CDL practice tests here on this sight got me through the hazmat test !! Once you get the permit you get a script to follow for the pre-trip inspection and the air brake test. once you can pass that you get to start your backing skills. now it usually depends how many students are there at any one time because everyone attends at there own pace and schedule. If theres a lot of people there you may stand around for an hour or 3 before you get a shot in the truck !
if there`s no one there you may get to stay in it for an hour ? maybe. Once you get your backing skills down with a minimum of pull ups they take you out on the road in a 6 speed with a 28ft trailer. I got out on the road 3 times for about 30 min each time before they wanted me to take the test. they will send you out to Lancaster DMV, they have another school out there too and have a better working relationship with the examiners there apparently. Fail the test and you get treated like a leper for a while ! and dont think about getting out on the road until the day before you test again !! could I have been taught a whole lot more......hell yes, did I get my CDL, which is all they really prepare you for, Yes. the only 2 companies that actively recruit from there are Werner and May. They have a lot of people going through that are being retrained through unemployment, I think they got a little more schooling than I did since I paid cash and they are probably billing the state a lot more ???Dont know just a hunch ? Once you get your CDL they do have a Kenworth big rig there that you get to go out in but only once or twice. hope this helps. now I gotta get a J.O.B. !! Overall, I got what I came for .....My CDL !!
