As a former trainer I can tell you it will just depend on your trainer, and your schedule. Initially, a trainer should not be asleep while you are driving. He can't train you if either of you are asleep. I know some trainers who always used the top bunk. Then a trainee never slept on their bunk. Some trainers had trainee use the top bunk. But if the trainer was driving, the trainee would news to nap on the bottom bunk. Don't ever be on the upper bunk while the truck is moving. Top bunks do not usually have safety restraints and is unsafe.

Oh, and being 6'3 won't really be an issue unless you are also 300 lbs. Most truck sleepers have a twin bed. So once you are actually in bed, you will have as much room as any twin bed.

OK, it's 2 bunks in a training truck. Supposedly, no one in the top bunk while truck is moving. Some have a restraint in case of sudden braking. BUT, do you want to sleep in another guys bunk with his bedding ? Not me. In theory, in a training truck, both will be sleeping at the same time, since you can't train somebody if you're sleeping, or be trained if you're sleeping.

Question: What sort of mattresses are on the truck? Are they hypoallergenic (covered)? Are they soft, or firm?
Sorry all, I'm in research mode. Expect a lot of questions. Kind of like a 3 year old.

My matress is a good one, but I bought it myself. the upper bunk has a cotton batting matress. And the mattresses are 'long' twins. 84", not the standard 80".

My mother always taught me never to have a battle of wits with unarmed people. It's rude. I'm sorry (not really) that my few, but relevant questions sparked your feeble imagination into thinking that I was only asking because I was a prissy, girly-girl that only wants the most exotic of all items.
The reason for me asking this is because of:
1. People are nasty. Who knows what kind of disgusting critters previous people have brought in? Lice, bedbugs, fleas, silverfish, roaches, mice...
2. I don't know one single person that can get a good rest - at night, or a nap- on a mattress that is too thin, and pretty much feels like you are laying down on metal railings.
3. The "soft, or firm" question was more for my own benefit (if I ever have the opportunity to ride with my fiance). I can't sleep on a too-soft mattress because of...well...it's just not comfortable at all to me.
And just to add one more thing: My fiance will have 12000+ thread count sheets made from unicorn hair, and stuffed with rainbows.
Thank you for that information. I am going to need that in order to buy those magickal sheets previously mentioned with the gold that I made from beating a leprechaun at drinking.
