Hi everyone.
This is my first post as I am new to the industry.
I am looking forward to this very much.
I am 49 , and having to come out of retirement from another job because of the economy, plus Im bored . LOL.
I have been offered the " Conditional Letter of Employment ", got my CDL permit, DOT card etc., However, I do have a few questions tho.
Could someone, preferably a woman, tell me more about their Physical agility test given on the first day ?
They mentioned something about "pulling 100 pounds" using a bar across your chest, and then squatting 10 times and crouching.
Im asking because of an old injury on my right knee , ( injured while serving in the Gulf War in 1990 ), however, I am able to easily go up and down steps etc., just have a little difficulty in doing a whole bunch of squats, although , with restrengthening work, Im sure Ill be fine,,,Hopefully..LOL..
So, any info on their agility test will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DD

Hmmm, I wonder how many Roehl Drivers can do this after they get on with the company?
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Just did Roehl's agility test last week. It's definitely not a race. You can take all the time you need, and you should, because the purpose of the testing is not only to determine that you can perform basic maneuvers, but also that your heart isn't going to explode when you do. They check resting heart rate, and then re-check your pulse after each maneuver. So, take your time, make nice even-tempered motions during your test, and breathe deep. As far as the squatting, they want you to squat to touch the ground with your finger between your feet 10 times -- no weight on your shoulders or anything. While you have to imitate the tester's basic stance, you can do whatever you need to help "baby" your bad knee. For the pushing/pulling exercises, use your body weight to your advantage. Position yourself so that you can lean into/away from the weight with much of your body weight, and then use your legs from there.
You can do it! : ) -
Thanks everyone for your advice and encouragement.
I have been doing squats with my knee brace on which does seem to help. Im able to squat enough to touch my fingers to the ground.
Ive been doing some lifting also, of things that weigh the weight that they want done.
Im sure Ill do fine, just want to do my best , then some.
