Often it will be determined by the availability of the trainers. Some people leave right away and others are told to wait a few days at the hotel before heading out. If you begin, count on being away for quite some time to start everything out. If home time is gonna be an issue, either wait to settle what you must at home or you are in the wrong industry.

    Hi..Im new here too,.

I have all my paperwork done for Roehl but just have to take my DOT physical then will be going to their school in October sometime.

I did ALOT of research of schools and companies, and I decided on Roehl as they have very good reviews.,.

Ill be working Van in the Midwest region.

Im not sure about your question, but I just wanted to introduce myself.

Im coming out of retirement from another career mostly because of the economy, but also because Im bored. LOL

Maybe Ill meet you there, in the meantime, good luck.

I just applied to Rohel today, I have my CDL but have to take class all over. Haven't driven since mid 90's. I plan Midwest region. I'm thinking teams, not sure yet. No need for me to get home every week. don't mind staying out 3 to 4 weeks maybe more who knows. Hope to be in class sometime in October.

My recruiter is Kimberly and she has been very helpful, not pushy, nothing bad at all.

I think I made a very informed decision and am looking forward to it.

I am hoping for pretty good home time as it also depends on what I choose.

My DOT physical is the 28th, so Im hoping things will go fast after that ...Im hoping to get there and done at the school before the snow starts flying badly. I dont mind driving in it as I have no choice given where I live here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

So, again, good luck to ya and maybe we will be in the same class. Ill probably be one of the few females in the class, as well as probably one of the oldest..LOL

I'd check the Roehl thread if you have anymore questions as myself and others answer new peoples question a lot if not covered before. After I got out of orientation I went through a brief snow season last year and in my opinion you'd be better off in it with a trainer for pointers then go at it alone. I'm from fl never drove in snow period. At least you have some experience in what to expect and apply it to trucking if you can or compares. Good luck to you all. I also did orientation in ellenwood ga and was gone for 1 wk orientation and 2 wks with a trainer then had home time if that helps.

Yea I've driven in the snow and been as far as Portland Oregon with the rig. You just have to know your limitations and drive cautiously. Never chained though. By the way Coopnp, I live right here in Oveido close to UCF. I'm really looking forward getting back on the road, my boys are grow up and outta sight and the misses wants to get ride of me, go figure?:confused1:
